night, Dr. B. A. Campbell had a
narrow escape from serious in-
jury. An auto caused the doc-
tor's horse to jump into the
ditch, where it collided with a
telephone post.

The local grist mill in Zurich,
which was not •operating for a
week, is now back in operation
due to a satisfactory arrange-
ment being reached with the
Hydro -Electric people in To-
ronto.
What about the new skirts?

the legs are getting mighty

Mrs. R u to f o r d, of Hensall,
who fell and broke her hip a
few weeks ago, is now improv-
ing nicely.
Joseph Meidinger, of Zurich,
has purchased a residence in
Exeter, and will move there
within the very near future.

DECEMBER, 1941
Rudolph Corriveau has sold
his 100 -acre farm just south •of
Zurich to Ferd Haberer, of the
village, who gets possession
next March.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Thiel,
of Zurich, on Sunday celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary.
Area merchants advise the
public that there will be no
mixed nuts on the market for
Christmas. This means that
only peanuts will be available,
The population of the County
of Huron shows a decrease from
last year in the amount of 1667.
Last year there were 45,180
people in the county and this
year the number has dropped
to 43,513.
J. W. Ortwein, prominent
Hensall resident, will observe
his 92nd birthday on Christmas
Day. He is still quite active
and attends church twice each
Sunday.

Blue Water Highways, passed
away on Sunday morning, in.
his 81st year.

DECEMBER, 1951
The Zurich hockey team
opened their season on Friday
night with an exhibition game
against Seaforth Juniors, and
they were victorious by an 8-6
score.
The four million dollar build-
ing program at Centralia air-
port is almost complete.
The Zurich campaign for the
Bible Society brought in a total
of $334,70.
Donald Dayman was elected
president of the Hensall Cana-
dian Legion for the coming
year, replacing Bryan Kyle, who
has completed his term of of-
fice,
A farewell party was held at
SS 10 Hay for Mr. and Mrs.
George Armstrong and Jean and
Betty, who are leaving the area
to take up residence in Hensall.
A top quality heifer from the
stable of McKinley's Farm and
Hatchery was sold at the annual
Shorthorn sale in Clinton for
$675, to Bert McBride, RR 1,

Possibility of a new Bank of
Montreal building in Hensall
was brought to light when the
bank purchased the bowling
green property on Main Street
from the village.
Mr. and Mrs. William Sparks
moved from their farm home
on the Bronson Line to Sea -
forth, on Monday of this week.
Rudolph Stade, of Zurich, suf-
fered serious injuries last Sat-
urday afternoon when he fell
12 feet to the ground off a
roof of a chicken barn at the
farm of Dan Steckle, -
Sant Rannie has been elected
president of the Hensall Legion
for the coming year.
There passed away in Mar-
quis, Sask., Arthur W. Dignan,
a former well-known resident
of Hay Township.
