Hensall Kinettes
Visit Shut-ins
Sick and shut-ins in Hensall,
Queensway nursing home pa-
tients, South Huron Hospital,
Exeter; Clinton Public Hospital,
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
and Huronview were made hap-
py on Sunday, November 27,
when anembers of Hensall Kin-
ette Club called on them, visited
them, and also presented them
with lovely packages of fruit
and treats.
Over 45 packages were given
out. This is an annual project
of the Kinette club.
Huron TB Association Conducting
Survey at Nursing Homes in County
Directors of the Huron Coun-
ty Tuberculosis Association
were told Wednesday night at
a meeting at the Elan Haven
Motor Hotel in Clinton that
Huron and Perth counties have
the lowest incidence of tuber-
culosis in Ontario, Mrs. Beryl
Davidson, Stratford, executive
secretary of the association said
that the current program in
Huron includes .a survey of the
23 nursing homes in the •coun-
ty, and a retirement and pre-
employment program.

Huronview, Clinton, the coun-
ty's home for the aged, were
x-rayed for TB and other chest
conditions by the Beek Sana-
torium, London, A survey of
all food handlers in the county
has just been completed.
J. A. Tyler, Drumbo, presi-
dent of the Oxford County Tu-
berculosis Association, as guest
speaker asked just how effici-
ent is a mass x-ray. He said
that there is always a segment
of the population which does
not respond (Huron's last mass,
x-ray s urvey, two years ago,
saw 51 per cent of the popula-
tion comply). "We should be
asking ourselves if research is
the answer to the TB problem.

Sell Peanuts
At the Kinsmen supper meet-
ing last Thursday night plans
were made for their annual
peanut drive, Thursday, Decem-
ber 1, at 7 o'clock. Teams were
picked to canvass the town.
Christmas trees have been
cut and will be available around
the first week in December to
anyone wishing one.
George Beer, Bob Baker, Bob
Caldwell and Murray Baker
were chosen as a committee to
investigate ways for Kinsmen
to help celebrate centennial.
They will bring in a report at
the next meeting. This was ex-
pected to be a joint project
with Kinsmen and Kinettes.

provided at an International
Plowing Match.
Last year the county associa-
tion donated $1,000 to the In-
ternational Union Against Tu-
berculosis; to a special fund of
the Ontario T13 Association to
financially assist needy tuber-
culosis associations, and money
for research for all chest con-
ditions.
Huron County's new director
for the Huron County Health
Unit, Dr. Gerard Evans, attend-
ed the meeting.
