The regular meeting of the
Zurich Women's Institute will
be held in the Hay Township
Hall, on Tuesday evening, Oc-
tober 18,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sarar-
as, Waterloo, and Mr, and Mrs,
Martin Elenbaum, of Tiffin,
Ohio, called on relatives in the
area on Thanksgiving Day. The
visit was of special interest to
Mr. Elenbaum, as his father and
mother were early pioneers in
this area before migrating to
North Dakota in the 1880s. His
parents were the late David
Elenbaum and Mary Jane Gill.
His father was one of Dash -
wood's early merchants. Mr.
and Mrs. Elenbaum recently
moved to Tiffin after living and
working in 'Washington, D.C.,
for over 40 years.

r The Varna 4-11 club met on Work with Food
Saturday last ;t the home of
Mrs, Allan Hayter. The mneet-

of the supper menus planned
at home". The di.cussion peri-
od was based on "how to use
fruit for supper' and "good
foods are essential". The girls
made baked apples, a fruit dish,
a cheese and rice dish, and a
prune sponge dish. with the aid
of their leader. The meeting
closed with the 4.11 creed,
The UCW held a successful
supper last Wednesday eve-
ning. This week they are spon-
soring a booth at the plowing
match.

Miss Eunice Thiel, of Wood-
stock, sister of the groom, was

length gown of peacock blue

alencon lace, featured a scooped
neckline, empire waist and el-
bow -length trumpet sleeves. A
crystal queen's tiara to match
the bride's held her matching
blue cocktail veil.
Dale Dignan, brother of the
bride, was best man. Kenneth
Thiel, brother of the groom,
and Douglas Taylor, Brucefield,
friend of the groom, ushered
guests.
A buffet luncheon was held
in the church rooms where the
bride's mother received guests
in a sapphire blue shantung
dress with blue and black ac-
cessories and a yellow rosebud
corsage. The groom's mother
chose a turquoise suit of knit
orlan with blue and black ac-
cessories and yellow rosebud
corsage,
Leroy Thiel, uncle of the
groom, was toastmaster. Con-
gratulatory telegrams to the
newlyweds from relatives in
Prince Edward Island were read
during the meal.
For travelling to southern
areas of Ontario, the bride
changed to a burgandy suit of
wool boucle, with burgandy and
black patent accessories, wear-
ing a sorsage of pink carnations
and pink Sweetheart roses.
The couple now reside in
Zurich.

Obituary
MOTHER M. AMELIA
Mother M. Amelia, the former
Nellie Brisson, of Drayton, On-
tario, died at Loretto Abbey,
Toronto, Ontario, after a long
illness,
Her father was the late Ed-
ward Brisson and her mother
the late Eachel Sreenan, both
natives of Drayton. Mother
Amelia's brothers, Rev, Max
Brisson,, of St. Peter's Semin-
ary, London: Eddie and Ted,
and three sisters, Catherine,
Jane and Marie, (Mother Ce -
lima, IBVM) predeceased her.
Mother Amelia taught for a
number of years in the Strat-
ford Separate School, Her last
years of teaching were spent at
Loretto College School, Toronto.
(Loretto Abbey is the Mother -
house of the Institute of the
Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly
called Loretto Sisters.)

The third meeting of the -
Supper Suprellles was held on
Monday, Oetober 10, at 2 pan.,
at the home of Mrs. Bob l\le-
Kinley.
The meeting was opened with
the 4-11 pledge, Connie Robin-
son read the minutes of the
last meeting. Eight members
answered the roll call, The
leaders checked the members'
notes.
Discussion was on vegetables,
breads and cereals, vitamin D,
fruits and good foods are eco-
nomical.
For group work, Karen Mc-
Kinley and Carolynne Robinson
made jello with fresh orange
and peach pieces in it. Cathy
McKinley and Judy McBride
made applesauce. Pat Robin-
son thickened the raisins for a
pie. Diane McKinley ,Wade
apple pie.
Each person sampled what
was made.
