Sramp, of Batavia, New York, announce the engagement of their daughter, Donna Dawn, to Gerald I. Oesch, son of 1r. and Mrs. Leroy Oesch of Clinton. Miss Stamp is a graduate of Genesee State University College, and is a school librarian near Batavia, Mr. Oesch is employed by the East- man Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. RA,DER, Correspondent) Miss' Pearl Kraft flew to Sas- katoon for a two week visit with her brother Sam. Miss Pearl Salmon, of Lon- don, spent a few days with Mr, and Mrs, Cliff Salmon and fam- ily. Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Miller spent Sunday at Exeter with Mr. and Mrs. Art Bierling and Milton. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cockwill entertained the latter's mother Mrs. Joe Wilds and Mr. and Mrs, Henry Wilds for supper at the Zurich Hotel Saturday eve- ning, The occasion was Mrs. Wilds' birthday and Mr. •and Mrs. Henry Wilds' twentieth wedding anniversary. While they were away a surprise party was arranged and some 40 rela- tives greeted them on their re- turn home. A social evening was spent in games and contests after which the celebrants were presented with gifts. Five ladies from Dashwood Institute attended the Huron County Institute rally at Au- burn on Monday. Hubert McKeever Hubert MiKeever, 57, of RR 3, Dashwood, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Saturday, October 1. He had been in failing health for some time. He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn McCann; two daughters, Mary, of London; Catherine, at home; one son, Goshen Gais Hold Regular Meeting The second meeting •of the Zurich 1 Club was held in the basement of Goshen United Church on Saturday, October 1, at 10 a.m. They opened with the 4-H pledge. The roll call was an- swered by eight members. Book covers were distributed to the members. Discussion was on "Canada's Food Guide" and "Milk and It's Products". Carolynne Robinson and Judy McBride demonstrated how to measure. Diane McKinley and Debbie McKinley demonstrated how to cup up vegetables. Pat Robinson and Karen McKinley demonstrated how to make white sauce. For group work, the made onion soup and scalloped vege- tables. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, October 8. The body rested at the T. Harry Hoffman funeral home until Monday when requiem mass was held at Our Lady Church, Mount Carmel. Father Jansen officiated. Dashwood Dainty Diners The third meeting of Dash- wood 4-H girls' club No. 1 was held at .the home of Diane Becker, October 1, with nine girls and the leaders, Mrs. Gor- don Bender and Diane Weber present. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge. Notes were given on the following: "How can we use fruits for supper", good foods are eco- nomical", value of the home garden", A demonstration was given on how to make apple crunch, which was very tasty. Dashwood Cooking Queens The second meeting of club No, two of the 4-H girls was held October 3, with 12 mem- bers and the leaders, Mrs. Eben Weigand and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, present. The girls all helped in cook- ing scalloped vegetables and cream potato soup wit.h crou- tons, which turned out very good. The leaders gave notes on "Reasons for good food guide for health". The next meeting will be held October 12 at the community centre. BLUE WATER REST HOME NEWS and VIEWS By Lance J. Reed, Superintendent The interest that the people are showing in our Home is ap- preciated through the questions •that you asked and by the con- tributions. Mrs. S. Zimmerman very kindly donated a quantity of home -canned plums. Another lady in the community, who wishes to remain annonymous, has canned and donated a gen- erous supply of chili sauce. When the wind blows and the snow falls, these home-made treats will be a delight to all residents. We are still looking for two pianos, that perhaps someone would care to donate to us. Perhaps you may have one that you would not have any use for.
