Winners in the class for the best cat were: Donna Schilbe, Helen Blackwell, Nancy Shantz, Jennifer Decker; best dog, Deb- bie O'Brien, Sandra Desjar- dine, Sandra Snider, Randy Decker; best pet, Randy Decker, Sandra Webb, Helen Blackwell, Audrey Desch. Also in school children's de- partment there were classes for pidgeons, won by Derek O'Brien and banties, booted, won by Barbara and Philip Dietrich. RADER, Correspondent) Attend Convention Several members of Zion Lutheran Church LWML attend- ed the ninth biennial Lutheran Women's Missionary League convention at St. Thomas on Saturday. Miss Velma Math, missionary nurse at the Luth- eran Church's hospital at Wan - door, India, was guest speaker. The 60 -bed hospital was estab- lished by the International Lutheran Women's Missionary League. At the meeting $6,500 was .allocated for visual aids for deaf persons at Belleville and Milton schools and toward construction of new churches at London, Kitchener, St. Cath- arines and Hamilton. 4-H Club The first meeting of the 4-H Homemaking Club No. 2 was held September 19 with 12 girls and the leaders, Mrs. Eben Weigand and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, present. The next meeting will be Octo- ber 3 at the home of Beth Snell. Dashwood Dainty Diners The first meeting of 4-H girls' club No. 1 was held in the com- munity centre with 10 girls and the leaders, Mrs. Gordon Bend - Girls Hold Edge In Baby Show At Zurich Fair A total of 25 babies were en- tered in the annual Baby Show at the Zurich Fall Fair on Mon- day. The show each year is sponsored by the Zurich Cham- ber of Commerce, and the chair- man of the event this year was Robert Westlake. In the one to six months' class, the winner was Lori Patricia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hayter, RR 1, Varna; second was Dianne Margaret, daughter •of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hoffman, RR 3, Zurich; third was Valerie .Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miller, RR 1, Dashwood. From six to 12 months' old class saw Lori Joanne, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Turk- heim, Zurich, as first place win- ner; second was a tie between Allan Gregory, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dunn, RR 3, Bay- field, and Robert John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Oud, RR 2, Hensall; third place winner was Julie Lynn, daughter of Mr. :and Mrs. Jerry Arnold. Dorcas Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gingerich, Zur- ich, was the winner in the 12 to 18 months' class; second was Thomas William, son of Mr. and Mrs. John McBride, RR 1, Zur- ich; third was Raymond Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs, Russell Desch, RR 1, Varna. Close to 400 spectators crowd- ed into the auditorium of the Community Centre to watch the event. 0 1St. Peter's CM. List Winners The Catholic Women's League of St. Peter's Parish held its regular meeting in the school. The meeting was opened with prayer by the president. . The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer re- ported 62 members on the en- rollment. The CWL of Canada, London Diocesan Council, sent a com- plete report and a list of their new executive. The League were pleased with the profit they made from the booth they shared at the Zurich Bean Festival. The draw and bingo held in the parish hall on August 28 was a great success,! The prizes were won by: William Ducharme, Jr., the quilt; hostess chair, Billy De Groot, and Mrs. Juliet Den- omme won the stainless steel cutlery set. The mission gift was won by Mrs. Matthew Denomnie, Meet- ing voted adjourned by Mrs, Charlie Rau and Mrs, Rita Momersteeg. Men's Congress Eleven men from Daswood EUB Church attended the an- nual men's congress of the EUB church in Hamilton EUB Church on Saturday. Jack Gaiser is secretary. The theme was "Evangelism and Mission Outreach". Guest speaker both morning and evening was Rev, John Dahmns. During the af- ternoon the group toured the steel mills. Attending from Dashwood were: Jack and Donald Gaiser, Harold Kellerman, Ralph Web- er, Mervyn T i e m a n, Lloyd Eagleson, Rev. Merrill James, George Tiernan, Stuart Wolfe, Gordon Bender and Irvin Eck- stein. Personal Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader and family spent the week -end at London with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howe and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Clark, of Dresden, spent Sunday with Mrs. Rudolph Miller and visited with Rudolph who is a patient in Clinton hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Reste- mayer and Robert and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rader spent Sunday at Kitchener with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Latta and family. Zurich 4.H Group Hold Meetings The second meeting of the "Gourmet Gals" was held Fri- day night, September 16, at 7 p.m., at Mrs, Parkins' home. It was opened with the 441 pledge, The roll call was "A good food habit". The answer was, "Drink at least three glasses of milk a day" The minutes were read by Debbie Merner and adapted by Tanya Parkins, In the discUs,, sign the group diseussed the food guide for health. The business was that Debbie Merner gave Nancy Rae 'Mc- Kinnon the job of being the secretary. The leaders demonstrated how to make a white sauce, cream soup and a scalloped bean casserole.
