L. Becker, in the northeast part of Stanley Township. Workmen have been busy at the site during the past few weeks digging out a man-made lake, which should provide an ideal swimming spot for the youngsters. Many groups have already taken advantage of the facilities at the Becker farm to hold their picnic or reunion. A BUSY SPOT— One of the busiest places all through the summer months is Bayview Golf Course, a half -mile south of St. Joseph. This long line-up of cars on an ordinary day indicates the number of people who have taken up the popular summer sport of golf. At the present time Bay- view is just a nine -hole course, but the owners are now talking about increasing this to an 18 -hole project. About People You Inow ... Mr. Davis will be on holidays from August 15 for two weeks, and John Jarrott will take over some of his duties. The question of adequate policing of Hensall came under discussion. The Liquor Control Board grants a subsidy of about $100 to be used toward polic- ing the town as it no doubt finds that wherever there are liquor outlets there will be need of proper police protection. There seems to be a great deal of red tape and book work in connection with apprehending offenders and the law is too lenient in punishment. • Harold Knight reported that a smoke ejection fan could be purchased on .approval. He also reported a meeting in Seaforth on August 18, for towns inter- ested in a mutual aid program, and that plans for the pavilion as a centennial project were drawn up and tenders would soon be let. There will be a meeting September 12, in coun- cil chambers to appoint a com- mittee to plan the centennial celebrations. Mr. Campbell read the cor- respondence which showed by the last census that Hensall has a population of 925. He also reported Professor James Scott's history of Huron County is on sale. It was moved by Oliver Jaques and seconded by John Baker that Ira Geiger's barn and lot of approximately 66 feet by 132 feet be purchased for $2000..
