Mr. and Mrs. Jack Consitt attended the Thompson -Scott wedding at St. George's Angli- lan Church, Guelph, Saturday, July 16, and also attended a reception at Kress Hotel, in Preston. David Payette has accepted a position at Bigwin Inn for the summer months. GGnests of Mrs. Hugh McMur- trie daring the past week were Mrs. R. S. Hopkins, Saddle Lake Island, Mich.; Mrs. Florence Smith Dunedin, Florida; Mrs. Lura Bessy, Oak Park, I11.; Miss Vivian Huffaker, La Grange„ Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Don Dodds and Mrs. K. Laderwerf have return- ed from a vacation .at Midland and Muskoka area. While on vacations they attended the Shakesperean Festival at Strat- ford. Miss Kay Davis is holidaying with Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Goddard and family at their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mrs. K. Lagerwerf spent the weekend in Woodstock and Ridgetown. Mrs. Lagerwerf is remaining in Ridgetown for a week. Michael Davis is vacationing at IC -rand Bend. The annual picnic of the Hen - MRS. MAUDE HEDDEN, Editor sail Oddfellows, Rebekahs and their families will be held this Sunday, July 24, at Riverview Park, Exeter, Everyone is asked to bring a picnic lunch. Under ideal weather condi- tions the annual picnic of Hen- sall Legion, Legion Auxiliary, and their families, was held Sunday afternoon at Riverview Park, Exeter. Mrs. Garnet Allan directed sports and the children received favors. A de- licious picnic supper was served. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mousseau and Mrs. Luella Willert left on Saturday for a vacation to the east coast. Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Payette and Jane have returned from their vacation at Honey Harbor. Mrs. Eric Kennedy has re- turned from a week's vacation spent with her friend, Mrs. Irene Bassett, of London, at her cottage at Bayfield. Robert B. Cameron, accom- panied by his friend, Emery Bruce, .of Windsor, are vaca- tioning for two weeks touring the New England States, espe- cially New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. They will also go to the Maritimes to visit the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bruce, of East Baltic, PEI. They are making the trip by car. Mrs. R. J. Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Chris- tie and Catharine Anne have returned from a trip to the west coast and Vancouver Island, by way of Edmonton Jasper Lake Louise and Banff, returning home by Seattle and northern United States and Straits of Mackinac. Miss Kathie Henderson .is holidaying at Grand Bend. Mrs, H. Currie, Mrs. Ron Mock, Mrs. Pearl Passmore, Miss Mary Goodwin and Mrs, Obituary MRS. GEORGE JENKINS Mrs. George Jenkins, of Hen- sall, passed away Wednesday night, July 13, at Huronview. She was the former Margaret A. Roy, in her 90th year. Surviving are three daugh- ters, Mrs. Harry (Edith) McIn- tyre, Clinton; Mrs. 0 r v i 11 e (Mary) Hilliard, Exeter; Mrs. G. W. (Gladys) Molleken, Chicago; one son, Roy, Toronto; six grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Her husband passed away some years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. H. G. Web- ster, of Hensall, predeceased her June 2 of this year. The late Mrs. Jenkins rested at the Bonthron funeral home, Hensall, until Saturday noon, when she was taken to the Sime funeral home, Grand Valley, for public service at 3:30 p.ni., with burial in Grand Valley Union Cemetery. Rodger Venner enjoyed the performancf of "Don Giovani" at Avon Theatre, Stratford, last week. Pamela, Sheila and Kevin Lindsay, of Hamilton, are vaca- tioning with Mrs. John Render- son and family, Family Reunion On Wednesday evening, July 13, the sons and daughters and families of Robert Baker Sr. gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant McGregor at Kippers. This is the first visit of Cpl. Bruce Baker and his family to this district in three years. Cpl. Baker is stationed at Kingston. After a good supper, Miss Nancy Mustard and Mrs' Mervyn Hayter conducted the sports.
