Mr. and Mrs. William Kerr, .Miss Carol Kerr and Robert Lefebvre, of North Bay, spent the week -end with Mrs. Maude Redden. Wedding COOPER—LINK A very pretty wedding was solemnized at Centralia Faith Tabernacle, Saturday, July 2, at 2 o'clock when Joanne Carole Link, 'daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Link, Hensall, became the bride of John Ralph Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vivan Cooper, Kippen, Rev. H. Weurch officiating. Miss Verlyn Miller, of Hen- sall, at the organ consol played "How Great Thou Art". Given in marriage by her fa- ther, the bride was lovely gowned in floor -length empire line brocaded satin fashioned with a rounded neckline and medium length wedding bell sleeves trimmed with lace. Her bouquet was yellow roses with lotus and ivvy. Miss Marion Link, Hensall, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, chose a pink chiffon street -length dress. Bridesmaid Miss Brenda Link, sister of the bride, was gowned in yellow chiffon, street -length style. Robert Erb, RR 1, Zurich, at- tended the groom, and Gary Cooper ushered guests. For the reception at the Hotel Hensall, the bride's mother re- ceived wearing a pink linen ensemble. •The groom's mother chose a blue lace suit. For their wedding trip to Lake Erie area the bride wore a dress of blue and white linen, with accessories in white and pastel blue coat. They will reside in Hensall. MRS. MAUDE HEDDEN, Editor Mr. and Mrs. Alex McMur- trie, of Toronto, spent a few days with relatives in Hensall A. E. Northey, of Cameron, passed away July 6. He was the husband of the former Agnes Farquhar, of Hensall. Kippen East Women's Insti- tute will hold their July meet- ing Tuesday, July 19, in the Legion Hall. Hostesses are Mrs. William Kyle and Mrs. Ross Broadfoot. "This and That" auction sale will be a special feature of the evening. Jack Consitt received the ap- pointment of custodian for Hen- sall Public School. There were several applications for the position. His father, Roy Con- sitt, held the same position for 10 years but recently tendered his resignation. Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Van Dyke, of Bradford, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mrs. K. Lagerwerf. Mrs. Grace Harpole left Wed- nesday for Ottawa and will holi- day for a couple of week at Hickey Lake with her family, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Peacock, Gary and Jarvis. Mrs. Alvin Taylor, of Hensall, spent last week vacationing at a cottage at Port Bruce. Smillie Clan Hold Annual Reunion Alex M. Doig Funeral service for the late Alex M. Doig was held Friday, July 1, at St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Doig, 81, died at St. Peters- burg on Wednesday, June 29. He was born in Tuckersmith, where he lived for many years, studying law with his uncle, the late William Doig, of Kippen. For many years he worked on the immigration force at De- troit, retiring to St. Petersburg in 1955. His wife predeceased him in 1956; also his only son. He was an uncle of Mrs. Henry Caldwell, of Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cogh- lin, Donald, Murray and Elaine, of Atwood, were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and family. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mc- Arthu, of Los Angeles, Cal., are visiting relatives and friends in and around Hensall and attend- ed the McArthur reunion at Exeter Sunday. Recent guests with Mrs. Grace Peck were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elder, of Oshawa; Mrs. H. L. Statham, of Kingsville; Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Elder, Ken, Jean, Kathy and John, of Hamilton; Dr. J. S. Robertson and Miss Carol Lawson, of Toronto. Betty Beer, six, little daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. George Beer, had the misfortune to fall while playing on Monday frac- turing her right arm. She was admitted to South Huron Hos- pital, Exeter, for X-rays. The 27th annual reunion of the Stuart -Smillie clan was held at Lions Park, Seaforth, on Sat- urday, July 9. The members enjoyed a lunch at noon fol- lowed by visiting, swimming and games. A delicious dinner was served later. Many of the clan attended from Huron County while others came from Kingsville, St. Cath- arines, Toronto, Detroit and Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. David Blackwell were guests at the Miller -Mor- gan wedding at Centralia United Church, Saturday, July 9. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Kercher, Kippen, accompanied by their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Jordon, Lon- don, and their grand -daughters, Judith ,and Ruth Jeffrey, of Staffa, have returned home af- ter a pleasant holiday vacation- ing at Key West, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Traquair are holidaying at Calgary Stampede. Miss Carol Kerr, of North Bay, is spending a month vaca- tioning with her aunt, Mrs. Maude Redden. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Dilling celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, July 6, and in honor of the oc- casion were entertained by their family to a dinner •at Monetta Menard's, Grand Bend, who presented them with gifts and money. An enjoyable day was spent at Harriston last Saturday by the local Orangemen and their families and friends. Honor Bride Prior To Her Marriage Miss. June Munn, whose mar- riage to John Jacobi takes place Saturday in Hensall United Church, has been honored at a number of pre -nuptial events. The bride -elect was entertained ence Dilling, Wendy and Bruce, Sarnia, and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Olson, London. Miss Mary Thomson passed her grade 3 piano with honors at the Western Conservatory of Music. She is a pupil of Mrs, Frank Forrest, Hensall. Mrs. Andrew Bell Funeral service for the late Mrs. Andrew B. Bell, of Kip - pen, was held on Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m. from Bolithron funeral home, with Rev. E. Don- ald Stuart, of Brucefield, offi- ciating. Burial was in Baird's Cemetery. Mrs. Bell, the former Isabell Cooper, passed away Sunday at the Queensway nursing home, Hensall. She was in her 92nd year. Surviving are one son, Wil- liam J. F. Bell, Kippen; one daughter, (Etta) Mrs. Elwood Stackhouse, London; one sister, Mrs. Fred Deyell, Toronto; five grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. MacLean Reunion On Sunday, July 10, over 80 descendants of Duncan Mac- Lean gathered at the old home- stead of Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacLean to celebrate 107 years of MacLean ownership. At 5 p.m. a turkey dinner was served to all. Guests were present from Lachute, Que.; Pittsburgh, Penn.; Detroit, Barrie, Hamil- ton, Brampton, London, Goder- ich, Seaforth, Mitchell, Exeter and Hensall. 4.e44111,1 ' by her mother, Mrs. Beatrice Munn, at a trousseau tea at their home. •Guests were re- ceived by the bride -elect, her another and mother of the groom -elect, Mrs, Harvey Jacobi. Pouring tea were the bride - elect's grandmother, Mrs. Ida Munn, Hensall, and Mrs. Thom- as Drover, Cromarty. Also pour- ing tea were Mrs. Don McLeod, Ailsa Craig; Mrs. Earl Drover, London; Mrs. William Brint- nell, Cromarty, and Mrs. An- drew Houston, Egmondville. Serving guests were Miss Pa- tricia Harris, Miss Ruth Ann Coleman and Miss Janice Wright. Showing trousseau and ether gifts were Miss Elda Wail, Miss Margaret Jean Russell, Miss Eileen Garrett and Miss. Joyce Munn. Prior to the tea Miss Munn was honored at a number of showers. A community shower was held for neighbors and friends in Chiselhurst Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Jack Brint- nell, Mrs, Russell Brock and Miss Patricia Harris. Miss Elda Wall, Mrs, Doug Dailey, Miss Margaret Russell and Miss Joyce Munn held a shower for her in London. Mrs. Gordon T. Munn, Stoney Creek; Mrs. Jack Simmons, Mrs. Gordon Munn and Mrs. Donald Munn, aunts of the bride -elect, honored her with a shower at the home of Mrs. Alex Munn, Hensall. A dinner was given by Miss Margaret Munro at her home in London. Presentations were made to the bride -elect by the staff of Byron Northview Pub- lic School in London and her Sunday school class at Chisel- hurst. Following rehearsal on Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jacobi will entertain the bridal party at their home.
