CORNER -STONE CEREMONY -- Despite the extreme

for the corner -stone ceremony at Blue Water Rest Home.

Corner -stone Ceremony Held Sunday
ALL CHEQUES GRATEFULLY APPRE-
CIATED—A highlight of the corner -stone
ceremony at Blue Water Rest Home on Sun-
day was the presentation of a cheque from
the Ontario government to the organization,
as part of the grant moneys to be given to
the project. Hon. C, S. MacNaughton Hur-
on MLA and Minister •of Highways for On-
tario, is shown here as he presents the
cheque to Ray McKinnon, treasurer . of the
incorporation. Balance of the grant money
will be paid on completion of the Rest Home.

Joseph L. Flynn, well-known
Hensall barber, is resting com-
fortably in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London, with, a fractured
leg sustained when his car
rolled over in a ditc`' near Zur
ich on Saturday. He was alone
in the car.
Mr. Flynn. was taken to the
hospital by Westlake ambu-
lance, Zurich. The accident
happened 11/4 miles south of
Zurich and one-half mile east
of the Goshen Line, in Hay
Township.
OPP Constable W. G. Glass -
ford of Exeter detachment, who
investigated, stated damages to
the car would be $800.

Uidals at Rest Home (eremony
With a crowd of about 200
interested people present, the
official corner -stone ceremony
took place at Blue Water Rest
Horne on Sunday afternoon,
Various government represen-
tatives, along with Iocal offi-
cials, took part in the cere-
mony.
The official placing of the
corner stone was performed by
Hon. C. S. MacNaughton, Huron
MLA; Robert McKinley, Huron
MP; John Corbett, reeve of Hay
Township, and C. A. Atkinson,
representing the Ontario De-
partment of Welfare. Chair-
man of the program was Dr. C.
J. Wallace, who is chairman of
the board of directors of Blue
Water Rest Home, Inc.,
Speaking to the crowd follow-
ing the ceremony, Mr. McKin-
Iey said, "we should dedicate
ourselves to this project and
get behind it. We must now
see it through to completion.
The Home will be a great bene-
fit to all our senior citizens."
The Huron member also con-
gratulated those who have been
in charge of the project, along
with those who have donated
to the worthy cause.
Ken Stewart, warden of Hur-
on County, told the gathering
that it is a great thing to have
people in a community who
will work on behalf of their
fellow citizens, such as has been
done in this area. He added
that the new home will serve
the needs of the county to a
wonderful degree.
Mr. Atkinson also paid spe-
cial tribute to all those who
have worked so hard on behalf
of the project, as well as to
those who have donated to the
cause, He added that there is
always a small group who carry
the load on such a big project
as this one is.
On behalf of the Ontario gov-
ernment, who are paying about
half the actual cost of the build-
ing, Hon. C. S. MacNaughton
presented a cheque to board
chairman Ray McKinnon, as the
first instalment of the grant
moneys. The Huron member,
who is Minister of Highways for
Ontario, gave a brief history of
the project since it began in the
early stages. a little over one
year ago. He extended high
praise to those responsible f -r
what had been accomplished.

Joseph, addressed the gather-
ing, and likened the corner
stone of a new building to our

Hensall council met in the
council chambers on Monday.

Clerk Earl Campbell read the
minutes of the last meeting.,
which were approved on motion
of Baker and Lavender.
Fire Chief Dave Sangster
met with council regarding the
purchase of necessary items of
equipment such as a 24 -foot
ladder, smoke fan, etc. Coun-
cil agreed to the purchase.
Ernie Davis reported the re-
moving of 28 tree stumps; a
lead of earth to fill holes. and
that Clarence Reid had grav-
elled the new road at the dump.
It was decided to invite the
mill owners to meet with enun-
cill at the Town Hall, on Tues-
day, July 12, at 7 p.m., in order
that their co-operation in keep-
ing the dump in decent shape,
be obtained.
Clerk Earl Campbell was in-
structed to contact the Town-
ship of Usborne regarding its
share of the cost of maintain-
ing the domestic dump. Hen-
saIl will only agree to Usborne
paying one-third of the cost of
dump maintenance. without
limit.
Paving of Mill Street is to
begin immediately and council
also decided to pave a strip
nine feet wide. the length of
the hall, beside the Town Hall.
Councillor Knight reported
progress on the Centennial pro-
ject and asked the purchase of
a centennial flag by fall.
Mrs. Noakes gave a report of
the mayors and reeves conven-
tion, reporting 600 present.
One councillor pointed ant
that people do not obe.' the
stop signs. On a Sunday eve-
ning he counted that of 26 cars
that came to a stop sign: enly
two stopped.
A request for a sidewalk by
Trevor Wilson was held giver
until written requests came in
from the ratepayers on the rest
of the block, and the PITC. Bell
Telephone's request for per-
mission to cross Wellington
Street with a cable to connect
Cook Bros, office to the mill,
was granted,
Clerk's mid -summer report
showed receipts of $25,530,88,
and expenditures $25,285.62.
The PUC received permission
to install eight more lights,
seven on King Street and •ine
on York Street.
Building permits were grant-
ed George Armstrong to giver
his garage and Dr. Goddard to
renovate his office.
Councillor Lavender suggest-
ed that all gas outlets in town
be patronized by the town. It
was also decided that Mid-
western Development represen-
tatives get pay and mileage.

meet on Tuesday. August 9. at

ELECTED TO OI'lT.3.RIO BOARD --- Announcement
has been made of the election of Gerald Gingerieh, Zurich,
to the board of directors of the Ontario Chamber of Com-
merce, Mr, ,Gingerich has served as president of the Zurich
and District Chamber of Commerce for the past three years,
and tinder his leadership the organization has grown from
a membership of about 25 to the current high of 60, He will
represent: division five of the Ontario organization, on the
newly elected board,
