Zurich Kings Look
Like Strong Club
With the addition of two top -
calibre ball players from Hen -
sail, the Zurich Kings look like
a much stronger contender for
Huron -Perth league laurels
than they were last season.
The schedule was to open in
Zurich last night, with Walker-
ton providing the opposition.
Bruce Horton, regarded as
the finest catcher in this part
of the country, has joined the
Zurich nine and will strengthen
the team considerably. A
former member of Hensall
teams, Bruce played junior
baseball with Stratford last
season.
Along with Horton, Bob Mc-
Naughton will join the team
as a first baseman -fielder, and
will be another big help to the
squad. Both Horton and Me -
Naughton hit the ball with
plenty of authority, and will
strengthen the batting line-up
to a great extent.
Practically all -of- last year's
team are back re,ady for action,
and in addition Earl Wagner
has been working out regular-
ly this season.
Sharing mound duties for the
Locals will be Dick Bedard, Jim
Pfaff and Don O'Brien, while
Horton will carry the load be-
hind the plate. On first base
Rick Stade and McNaughton
will both be available. George
Haggitt will patrol second, while
Bob Johnston returns to his
position at short. Wagner and
Don O'Brien will be sharing
duties on third base, and the
outfielders ready for action are
Doug O'Brien, Phil Overholt,
and any of the pitchers not
throwing in any particular
game. Two younger players
working out with the team are
Kevin McKinnon and Dave
Stark.
,At a recent organizational
meeting, Earl Wagner was
elected as president of the club
for the season, with Louis Wil-
lert re-elected as secretary -
treasurer. Team manager is
George H a g g i t t, and Doug
O'Brien will direct the activi-
ties of the players on the field,
Next :home game for the
Kings will be this Sunday after-
noon, June 19, when they en-
tertain Chesley, a new entry in
the Huron -Perth league. Game
time is 2:30 p.m. Five teams
