Members of Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary attended serv- ice in a body at St, Paul's An- glican Church Sunday morn- ing and were addressed by the rector, Rev, J. P. Gandon, who gave an inspiring message. President Mrs. Harold Camp - Legion Ladies Plan Picnic Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met Tuesday evening for their June sneeting with president Mrs Harold C a m p b e 11 presiding. Plans were laid for their an- nual picnic at Riverside Park, Exeter, in July. The Auxiliary accepted an in• vitation to Goderich Auxiliary on June 21, and catered for a banquet Friday evening, June 10, for the Hensall Kinsmen when they entertained .their wives. Mrs. Byran Kyle won the guessing prize, and Mrs, Clar- ence Reid the mystery prize. Following the meeting the group motored to Grand Bend and enjoyed a late supper at the Imperial Hotel. MRS. MAUDE REDDEN, Editor bell of the Auxiliary read the first lesson, Miss Jean Hender- son was soloist, ,choosing for her s e l e ct i on "My Task". Mrs. Frank Forrest was at the organ consul. Flowers were in mem- ory of Mrs. Percy Tippett and Clarence Lenaghan. Glenn Love, of Sudbury, who has been a patient in Toronto General Hospital for several months where he underwent a major operation, is vacationing with his sister and brother-in- law, Mr, and Mrs. J. E. McEwen, and other relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. John Konynen- dyk and Lenore, Woodstock; Mr, and Mrs. A. Lagerwerf, of Parkhill.; Mrs. J. Lucio and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gelderland, of Ridgetown; Mr. and Mrs. Don Dodds and Lynne, of Seaforth, were guests Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol and Mrs. K. Lagerwerf attending a birth- day celebration for Mrs. Geld. erland. Albert Klungel, Winsohoten, Holland, is s p e n di n g three months vacationing with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Klungel, and family, at the Queensway nurs- ing home. Harry is the only son he has in Canada, the rest of his family live in Holland. The senior and junior choirs con, tributed to the service under the direction of Mrs. John Turk, helm. S. G. Rannie was soloist, and a trio composed of Miss Mary Goodwin, Mrs. Pearl Pass,. more and Mrs. William. Fuss sang. 0 UCW Hold Supper A lovely arrangement of yel- low tulips, iris and lilacs formed an attractive setting for the tea tables atthe annual smorgas- bord held in the United Church Wednesday evening. Over four hundred people were served a delicious dinner of turkey, ham, jellos, salads and desserts. One hundred and twenty take-out dinners were also taken care of. A great success, with pro- ceeds most gratifying, the smor- gasbord was sponsored by the United Church Women and convened by Mrs. Verne Alder - dice. 0 Entertain Wives Members of the Hensall Kins- men Club entertained their wives to a banquet at the Le- gion Hall Friday evening, when a turkey dinner, catered to by Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxili- ary, was served. Jim Hyde, retiring president, was presented with a plaque for his year's work, and Mrs, Hyde presented with a picture. The presentations were made by past president John Baker. Dancing to music provided by Desjardine orchestra was held at the local arena. ZURICH CITIZENS NEWS .1.1.041.410.014110,91.161 Hensall Couple Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs.. Norman Jones, of Hensall, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary en Satur- day, June 12, with a family dinner -at Monetta Menard's, Grand Bend, attended by all members of their family and grandchildren. They presented them with lovely gifts, includ- ing 50 gold mums. The wedding cake, flanked with gold and bronze mums, centred the wedding table. Mr, and Mrs. Jones were mar- ried June 14, 1916, at the home of the bride's parents, Abraham and Melissa . Hugill, of Huron Road, by the late Rev. Robert McKinley, Following their mar- riagethey lived on the groom's farm in Stanley Township, where Mr. Jones farmed for 27 years before coming to Hensall in 1943. They have a family of two sons and two daughters, Wil- mer, Stanley Township, the homestead, and Wes, of Port Perry; (Kathleen) Mrs. Fred Ireland, Toronto, and (Mildred) Mrs, Ian Feguson, London, There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandehilden. Mr, Jones is a carpenter and contractor by trade, and has built many fine homes and buildings, He served on the Hensall council for eight years, and was reeve seven years, He was active in the Hensall IGOF Lodge and received his 50 -year jewel in March, 1965. Both are members of Hensall United Church, where Mrs. Jones it active in the church organiz- ations. They were the recipients of cards, gifts and congratulatory messages from Hon. Lester B.
