Crop Report
Most of the corn acreage has
been planted in Huron County,
Some farmers :have sown white
beans.
A number of 1965 corn fields
remain to be plowed. Gener-
ally, spring plowing on clay
loam soils has been difficult
to cultivate into a fine seed bed
this year.
Growth in pastures and hay
fields is improving.

DIAL 2364921 ZURICH
It's not often television sta-
tions are telephoned and com-
plimented about a commercial.
All around the country TV sta-
tions are receiving calls, many
of them long -distant, about a
certain one -minute beer com-
mercial message.
Those inquiring want to know
the name of the tune and if
it's available at record stores.
By accident, we located some-
one in Kitchener who just re-
turned from visiting Dublin,
Ireland. His name is Clare
Millar, and he provided this in-
formation: The song is entitled
"Off to Dublin", and the name
of the group is "The Abbey
Lane Bar Singers". The record
is available in Ireland, but so
far it is not available in Can-
ada.
I telephoned the advertising
agency, F. H, Hayhurst, who
handles this account (which, in-
cidentally, is Carling's Black
Label) and was informed that
they are going to Ireland for
the purpose of making a record
which would presumably be
sold in this country.
From New York City, .a friend
who just returned from Japan
sent this interesting item along.
He writes: "Japanese scientists
are drawing fish to waiting nets
by broadcasting, through the
water, the sounds made by feed-
ing fish schools. They had
tossed bait into the water, then
recorded the sounds made by
fish swarming to the bait. Re-
played later under water, the
sounds attract fish of the same
species. Schools of •different
species produce feeding noises
peculiar to that species.

The other day I picked up the
telephone and called Batman's
agent in New York. After the
usual exchange of names and
"how are you's", the conversa-
tion went something like this:
"I'm calling to find •out if Bat-
man makes personal appear-
ances." The answer was "yes".
"What's the fee?" The answer
was $20,000, plus expenses.
"How long would the personal
appearance last?' "That's for
one day," was the answer.
IIe's not only asking for
twenty thousand, but he's get-
ting it. His agent informed me
that he is ,booked into a stadium
in New York City and he will
also receive a percentage of the
gross as well as the 20 grand.
As the man said, "You can't
blame him for making it while
he can." When the show dies,
so will Batman's fee.

of people we know, you maybe figure that Pontiac is just
too good to be true, You figure it costs a lot of money.
Of course We can tell you all kinds of nice things about
Pontiac; how well it's built, how much you deserve one,
but the nicer we make the car sound, the more expensive
you think it is. The only way we can get around this is
to invite you into have a look at the price tag. It's maybe
not quite as colorful as the car, but it's liable to turn you
on just the same. People forget (and who can blame them),
but Pontiac is not an expensive car! And that's not just
talk. We can offer you the kind of a deal that could put
you behind the wheel of your own new Pontiac this week.
A guy like you could really go places in a Pontiac. If
there's any better way to get there, we can't think of it.
