of London, and Mr. and Mrs
Greg Flemming and fancily, of
Mount Carmel, were Sunday
visitors with their mother, Mrs.
Theresa Hartman.
Mrs. Melizza Geiger spent
the week -end with Mr. and Mrs.
Jack McClinehey and family, of
Clinton.
Mrs. Louis Farwell and Mrs.
Theresa Hartman were appoint-
ed delegates to the CWL con-
vention in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin McKinley,
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Oesch and
Mr. and Mrs. Anson McKinley
attended the annual tubercu-
losis banquet in Blyth this past
Monday evening,
Mr. and Mrs. Leeland Willert
spent the week -end in Detroit
visiting their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Sampson.

REGISTER FOR MINOR BALL — There
was a heavy turnout of both girls and boys
last Friday night at the Zurich Community
Centre, when a registration was held for
minor softball play this summer. Among
those registering were the four daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Grenier, RR 3, Zur-
ich, who are shown in this photo. Seated
is the oldest sister, Rose Marie, while on
each side are twins Kathy and Carol, and
on the left is the youngest of the four,
Joanne. With five more sisters, the girls
could form their own ball team.
Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce
Will Sponsor Hell Drivers Show
Grand Bend—Directors of the
Grand Bend and Area Chamber
of Commerce Monday night ap-
p r o v e d the performance by
Trans -Canada Hell Drivers on
Sunday, July 31, at the Grand
Bend Dragway.
The Williams Twins, who
present the show, grew up in
Grand Bend, living with Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Odbert and with
the Brenner family. They have
taken their thrill show into
South America, Venezula, Mex-
ico, the Virgin Islands, as well
as giving performances in Can-
ada and the Virgin Islands.
In 1964 and 1965 the Hell
Drivers performed at the New
York World's Fair, and they
hold a world record for a mo-
torcycle jump from one ramp
to another placed 51 feet away.

The Dragway people have
loaned their track to the Cham-
ber for this performance, since
no drags are scheduled for that
week -end. In case of rain the
show will go on Monday.
In the past two years the
Williams Twins have put on
3,000 shows.
Included in the Grand Bend
show will be a "crash" in which
old cars will be demolished.
When this was mentioned, one
of the Chamber directors quip-
ped, "There's a couple of
`hondas' here in town you can
crash!"
The Chamber will attempt to
get adult citizens out to help
in a beach clean-up being staged
by Cubmasters Murray DesJar-
dins and Don Flear as a wind-
up •of the Cub meeting season.
A wiener roast will follow. Date
for this is June 8.
The Chamber leased a postage
meter with imprint in brown,
showing the words "Ontario's
Finest Year -Round Resort" at
the side.
The Chamber has accepted
an offer from Murray DesJar-
dins to do the house -number-
ing project for which a little
over $300 is on hand. He ex-
pects the project to cost no
more than $500, working from
maps already in village posses-
sion, and hiring local help to
put up the numbers.
The job is to be completed
by July 1, 1967. William Sturde-
vent is to continue as the
Chamber convener for the pro-
ject.
Some consideration of small
motorcycle re n t a 1 operations
was given. The Chamber will
ask council to request the oper-
ators to keep the machines off
the side street, where they take
up parking spaces while wait-
ing for rental.
Also the Chamber is request-
ing speed limit signs to be
placed throughout the village.
A request from J. Elgin McKin-
ley, chairman of the Blue Water
Rest Home funds committee,
for a grant, and from the Coun-
ty of Huron for endorsement
of a community college in Hur-
on, were filed.
Salary of secretary Joe Gunn
was increased $100 a year, plus
a bonus for every member over
60 which he acquires for the
Chamber. At present there are
28 members, with due date for
payment, in July.
Benches on the beach are to
be repainted, with Charles Tin-
dall in charge of the project,
and Wilma Dinnin appointed to
assist him,
Signs pointing toward the
beach were approved, for the
southwest side of .the main in-
tersection, provided other nec-
essary a p p r o v a.l s can be
achieved.
Obituary
MRS. AMOS GINGERICH
A life-long resident of this
area, Mrs. Amos Gingerich, RR
2, Zurich, passed away in Clin-
ton Public Hospital, on Wednes-
day, June 1. For a number of
years she was the Blake cor-
respondent for this newspaper.
The former Edna M. Schwart-
zentruber, she was a daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs, Jacob
Schwartzentruber, and was born
in Hay Township 54 years ago.
Surviving besides her hus-
band are two daughters, Mrs.
Kenneth (Jean) Gingerich and
Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Stec-
kle, both of Stanley Township;
one brother, Allan Schwartzen-
truber, New Hamburg, and two
sisters, Mrs. Edmund (Mary)
Desch, RR 2, Zurich, and Mrs.
Roy (Ida) Gingerich, o:f Zurich.
There are also four grandchil-
den.
The body is resting at the
Westlake funeral home, Zurich,
until Friday afternoon, when
the funeral service will take
place at the Zurich Mennonite
Church at 2 p.m., with inter-
ment in the Mennonite Ceme-
tery, Goshen Line,

White baby mums decorated
the altar of the Sacred Heart
Church, Parkhill, for the ma-
riage of Doreen Mary Dueharme
and Gary William 1VIeLinchey,
Saturday, May 14, with Rev. E.
Veitenheimer officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ducharme,
Zurich, and Mr, and Mrs. Rob-
ert McLinchey are parents .of
the groom.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a floor -
length gown of white peau de
sore styled with chapel train and
lily -point sleeves of lace. She
carried a bouquet of white
mums and pink carnations.
Mrs. Don Scott, Exeter, was
matron of honor, and Ann
Marie McLinchey, Parkhill, was
bridesmaid. The attendants
were gowned alike in berry
pink floor -length gowns. They
were fashioned in empire style
with bouffant sleeves. They
carried bouquets of white baby
mums.
Bill Barnard, London, was
hest man, and groomsman, Don
Scott, Exeter, Ushers were
Peter Jeffrey and Bill Cadman.
The wedding dinner was held
at the Dufferin Hotel, Centra-
lia, and later a dance was held
in Zurich Community Centre.
For travelling to Niagara
Falls, the bride change to a
three-piece blue suit wth black
accessories.

New Members for
Hensall Brownies
Five new members, Joanne
Rowcliffe, Christine McGregor,
Deanna Reaburn, Wendy Dixon
and Kathy Kyle, were received
into the Hensall Brownie Pack
last Tuesday, May 24,
Brown Owl Mrs. Robert Cook
extended a welcome to all the
mothers present, and enrolled
the Brownies in the traditional
ceremony. Gail Travers also
received her Golden Bar.
Warrants and pins were pre-
sented to Tawny Owls Mrs.
Rodger Venner and. Mrs. Barrie
Jackson. Mrs. Jackson's moth-
er, from England, being pres-
ent for the ceremony.
Brownie songs, games and a
story were enjoyed by .all, and
Brown Owl Mrs. Cook 'had a
pleasant surprise when she was
presented with a Guide's hold-
all purse, as a token of appreci-
ation from the Brownies.
