Mr. and Mrs. Leroy O'Brien. VISIT MOUNT ST. JOSEPH Mrs, Alphonse Grenier mo- tored to Mount St. Joseph in London last Saturday morning. With her were Misses Gail Be- dard, Joanne Miller, Madeline B ed a rd and Mrs. Grenier's daughter, Rose Marie. The four girls remained at the Mother -house, along with other young girls of the London dis- trict, as guests for the day. Mrs. Joe Miller returned the girls to their homes about 6 .o'clock Saturday evening. They enjoyed themselves very much, having attended mass in the Mother -house c h a p e 1. They met the Reverend Mother Julia, and at 11:30 all the girls en- joyed a lovely lunch on the lawn. After lunch they were shown a film on "The Life of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet" and then slides of the Sisters •of St. Joseph, Lon- don. After that the aspirants en- tertained the visitors with mus- ica 1 numbers, also a fashion show and a number of dia- logues. A surprise birthday party for Miss Emma Bassow, of Zurich, and Mrs. Harry McAdams, of London, was held Sunday at the home of Mrs. Marie Pask in Zurich. Present were Mr. and Mrs, Harry McAdams and David, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bassow, .1VIr. and Mrs. Milton McAdams and Duward, Mrs. Matilda Tetreau, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mc- Adams, Donald and Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Miller of Dash- wood, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Annan and family, of Pickering. Mrs. Chris Heist visited with Mr. and Mrs. George Fox at Walton last week. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Oesch :and Don spent the week -end with relatives in the Chesley :district. Her veil was caught by a pearl and crystal crown, and she carried an all - white crescent bouquet of gar- denias, roses, stephanotis and ivy. Bridal attendant, matron of honor, Mrs. Helen Horner, Zur- ich, was gowned in jade green shan charm featuring empire waist, the sleeveless bodice ac- iented with white lace, wedding ring headpiece. Bridesmaids, Mrs. George Parker, Hensall, sister of the groom, and Miss Gail McBride, Zurich, cousin of the bride, were gowned identical to the matron of honor. The trio car- ried bouquets of Shasta daisies. Flower girl, Miss Julie James, London, was &rocked similar to the bridesmaids. Bob Clark, Hensall, was the groomsman, and Bob McBride and George Parker ushered guests. Miss Donna Peck, Zurich, provided bridal music and ac- companied the soloist, Mrs. Jo- anne Muck, Goderich, who sang the "Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer". For the wedding reception for 60 guests, held in Goshen United Church parlors, attrac- tive in pink and white motif, the bride's mother received in a blue lace duster and dress with accessories in white. The groom's mother chose blue green brocade with black ac- cessories, with corsages of pink and white carnations. For their wedding trip to New York the bride wore a pink wool suit with black pastel ac- cessories. The couple will reside in Lon- don, where the groom is em- ployed by the department of highways. Prior to marriage the bride was feted at several functions held in her honor. Mrs. McBride entertained at a trousseau tea in honor of her daughter Gwendolyn who, with her mother and the groom's mother, Mrs. Pearl Shaddick, of Hensall, received guests. From a tea table covered with a lace cloth with a floral centre- piece of white mums and snap- dragons, flanked with white and pink tapers, Mrs. Orval MRS. EMMA McCANN A resident of Zurich for many years, Mrs, Emma McCann passed away suddenly at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Tuesday, May 24, in her 70th year. She was the former Emma Caroline Hoffman. Her hus- band, the late Benjamin Mc- Cann, passed away some years ago. They retired to Zurich from Stephen Township where they had operated a farm for many years. Surviving are two sons, Clem- ent, RR 3, Dashwood; Joseph, Clinton; four daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Evelyn) McKeever, RR 3, Dashwood; Mrs. John (Leona) Glavin, MiGillvray Township; Mrs. Donald (Alice) Hartman and Mrs- Arthur (Eileen) Geli- nas, both of London; one broth- er, Simon Hoffman, London; and two sisters, Mrs. Christina Witzel, Regina, Sask., and Mrs. Adeline Mcllhargey, of Chat- ham. There are also 39 grand- children and three great grand- children. The body is resting at the Westlake funeral home, Zurich, until Thursday morning, when mass will be sung at 11 a.m. in St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Zurich. Interment will be made in the adjoining ceme- tery. Father C. A. Doyle will officiate. 0 Mrs. Graham Farquhar, of Madison, Wisconsin, is visiting with her parents, Mr. arid Mrs. Ivan Yungblut, for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stephen, London, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Parkins and Tanya for the week -end. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Deitz and family, of London, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milt Deitz. Mr. and Mrs. Don Gascho, Jeff and Jane were holiday vis- itors in Zurich and Goderich.
