J. C, Boyne. Children baptized were Brenda Elizabeth Bell, Darren Robert Moir, Jean Marie Pollock. An- niversary services will be held this Sunday, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., when guest minister will be Rev. J. B. Fox, of Windsor, a former minister of this church. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mc- Leod, of Guelph, were week- end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. William T. Kyle. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, of Blenheim, were week -end guests with Mr. and. Mrs. Stewart Mc- Queen and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell. Carolyn Joyce Smillie gradu- ated with the nurses of St. Jo- seph's Hospital School of Nurs- ing, London, at the ceremony held in Thames Hall, UWO, on Friday evening. Carolyn was awarded a $500 A. E. Silver- wood Foundation Scholarship for post graduate study. Miss Brenda D. Smillie, a Amber Rebekahs Hear UN Student Following the regular meet- ing •of Amber Rebekah Lodge Wednesday evening, Miss Linda Sommerville, of Walton, United Nations' student of last year, spoke on her trip •to the U.N. and World's Fair, enhanced with colored slides which were very interesting and informa- tive. She was introduced by noble grand Mrs. George Clifton, who presided for the regular meet- ing of the lodge when dona- tions were made to the Eye Bank Fund and Cancer Fund, from the CP&T committee. An invitation for six members to attend Friendship Night at the russel's Lodge, May 24, was accepted. The mystery prize was won by Mrs. Clarence Volland, 0 MRS. MAUDE HEDDBN, Editor student at London Teachers' College, has accepted a position with the London Public School Board. Both are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smillie, RR 2, Hensall. Mrs. J. E. McEwen and Mrs. Ken McKay spent Saturday in Toronto and visited Mr. Glenn Love. United Church Notes At the United Church Sun- day morning family day and the sacrament of infant baptism were observed and the follow- ing children were presented for infant baptism: George Clin- ton William Blackwell, son of Mr, and Mrs. Stewart Black- well; Mary -Lynn Beswick Pryde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob- ert Pryde. For his sermon topic Rev. Harold Currie based Unit Four Holds May Meeting Mrs. James McAllister chair- ed the meeting of Unit 4 of UCW Thursday, using as the theme, "The God of Love". The devotional, "Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee," was pre- sented by Mrs. Harry Horton, with prayer offered by Mrs Sim Roobol. Miss Amy Lammie in braille read an article on the beautiful thoughts on the coming of spring. The study •of the Christian church in Trinidad was ably given by Mrs. J. Flynn, who told some pertinent facts of the mode of living of the natives of Trinidad. Discussion period followed and many points of interest were brought out. This concludes the study on "Trin- idad". A business period followed when the chief subject brought out was the smorgasbord sche- duled for Wednesday, June 8. There was an attendance of 34. Mrs. Grace Harpole and her committee were in charge of the social hour and Mrs. M. Traquair welcomed members. Ten members of the Hensel] Kinette Club attended the inter- club for district one at St. Thomas Wednesday evening. Mrs. Jack Drysdale and Mrs. William Fuss were lucky draw winners. Mrs. James Hinsall, of Hop- wood, England, will arrive by jet at the new International Airport, T or o n t o, Thursday, May 12, to spend three weeks' vacation with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Barrie Jackson, David and Anne, in Hensall. She will also visit with her two aunts, Mrs. Barney McGibbon and Mrs. Emily Hurd, of London, whom she has not seen for 50 years. Mrs. Harold Campbell, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. William Smale, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs, John Erb, and Mrs. W. D. Bell, members of Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, participated in a bowling tournament at Sea - forth on Wednesday. Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. S ma 1 e, Mrs. Erb, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Hor ton were bingo and penny sale winners. 0 Ladies Auxiliary Attend Rally The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met Tuesday evening with the president, Mrs. Harold Camp- bell, presiding. Following the presentation of films on "Can- cer", Mrs. Clarence Reid was installed as a new member. Plans were made for the zone rally at Seaforth May 25 and plans finalized for the annual penny sale with draw to be made first week in June. Mem- bers will entertain veterans at Westminster Hospital May 31, and finals plans for the bowl- ing banquet May 11 when the group will cater to some 140, were made. Members will attend divine service in St. Paul's Anglican Church the first Sunday in June. Mrs. E. R. Davis won the mystery prize and Mrs. C. Reid the guessing prize. About People You Know.,. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Smith spent the week -end with Iter daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Richard Tipping, Lon- don, and also visited with friends in Niagara Falls. Mr. and Mrs. John Soldan, Pat and Mike, were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lightfoot and Sharon, of Cen- tralia, and attended the London Teachers' College baccalaureate service at St. Paul's Cathedral London. Anniversary services will be held in Carmel Presbyterian Church, Sunday, May 15, at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., when guest speaker will be a former min- ister, Rev. J. B. Fox, Windsor. Carmel Ladies Plan Far Bake Sale The May meeting of the Sen- ior Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church was held Monday evening with 16 present. President Mrs, Earl Campbell extended a welcome to the members and opened with a verse on "Mother's Love". Mrs. Glenn Bell read sacred passages and Mrs. Camp- bell offered prayer. Plans for the annual birth- day party in June were made. Mrs. Campbell gave a medita- tion, "The Light of the World", and closed with prayer. A brief meeting of the Ladies' Aid followed, presided by presi- dent Mrs. Harvey Hyde, when plans for .a bake sale Saturday, May 21, were discussed.
