Displays New Quilt
Mrs. Albert Hess, of Zurich, was the winner of a
beautiful quilt in a recent draw sponsored by the Kippen
East Women's Institute. She is shown here happily dis-
playing her good fortune, which involved many hours of
tedious work for the members of the Kippen group.

dent Mrs. Bob Peck presided.
Mrs. Melvin Elliott gave the
.address, "Ye are my witnesses".
Others assisting were Mrs. Mer-

Taylor and Mrs. Postill, from
Varna. Mrs. Anson McKinley,
Mrs. Allen Armstrong, Mrs. Roy
McBride and Mrs. Keith Mc-
Bride from Goshen.
Offering was received by Mrs.
Clare McBride and Mrs. Bert
McBride. Mrs Bob Peck and
Mrs. Anson McKinley sang a
duet, "Teach Me to Pray." Mrs.
Elmore Hayter presided at the
organ.

MARCH, 1916
Mr. Elmore Oesch is fitting
up a barber shop in the annex
to C. Fritz's Shoe Store on
Main Street.
Mr. John Routledge, of the
staff of the local branch of the
Molson's Bank, has been trans-
ferred to the Exeter branch,
He begins his duties on Sat-
urday.
Mr. Solomon Jacobe has sold
his 100 -acre farm on the 15th
concession to his son, Mr. Gar-
net Jacobe, who gets possession
April 1. Mr, Jacobe has since
purchased the 50 -acre farm of
the estate of the late John
Oesch Sr., also on the 15th con-
cession.
Dr. James Butchart, a native
of Stanley Township and a
missionary in China for many
years, died at Nankin, China,
on February 15.

Brown, of Zurich, called on
friends in Dashwood last week.

home of Miss Joan McClymont.
The weekly hockey game by

with the Goshen boys winning

on Thursday evening of this

A number of the local Kairos
group attended the conference
at Auburn during the week-
end and also were on. Sing Time
't Wingham on Sunday.
The sympathy of this comm-
unity goes out to the family
of the late Harvey Turner in
their recent bereavement.

of Hensall, were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thiel.
Mr. and Mrs. Claire Geiger
and Mrs, Melizza Geiger, of the
Bronson Line, motored to De-
troit for the week -end. The
latter remained for a few days.
Mr. Gordon Smith, of the
Blue Water Highway, had his
two front fingers caught one
day last week in a fast revolv-
ing planer.
Mrs. Julius Thiel is a patient
in Victoria Hospital, London.
Mrs. Ivan Yungblut has re-
turned home from Birmingham,
Michigan, after spending a week
with relatives.

Plan For Supper

For the citizenship and edu-
cation theme of the Zurich
Women's Institute meeting for
February, Mrs. Newell Geiger
read an article, "Are old people
citizens". Mrs. Shatto was guest
speaker and spoke on "Making
people better citizens".
Ruth Anne Fleischauer and
Marlene Rader sang two duets,
"The Beautiful Garden of Pray-
er" and "All the Way".
Don Oesch and Don Truemner
played piano and coronet duet,
"How Great Thou Art".
The WI members are making
plans to have a supper in the
Community Centre on Wednes-
day, March 30, from 5:30-7:30.
Tickets are being sold on a
wool afghan, knit and donated
by Mrs. William Hay. In con-
nection with the supper, a ba-
zaar will also be held and pro-
ceeds from supper, sale of tic-
kets for afghan, and bazaar
items are all designated for the
Blue Water Rest Home fund.
Tickets for afghan and supper
may be purchased from Mrs.
Tom Meyers and Institute mem-
bers.
Canisters have been placed in
five business places in Zurich
so the Institute asks the public
to give their support for Mus-
cular Dysptrophy, as there will
be no house to house canvass.

Mr. and Mrs. William Wit-
mer, bridal couple, have re-
turned from their honeymoon
trip and are taking up resi-
dence in town.
A number of hockey fans at-
tended the hockey match at
Stratford on Monday evening,
when the Seaforth Beavers, of
which a local boy, Harold Stade
is the star goalie, nosed out the
Waterloo team in the playoffs
by a score of 2-1. The success
of the Beavers is partially due
to Harold's brilliant goalkeep-
ing and pepping up the boys
when they seem to get a bit
weary.
A pleasant evening was spent
at the home of Mrs. Gordon
Howald when a group of friends
gathered to bid farewell to Mil-
dred Haberer, who is leaving
to train at Stratford General
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs, Jack Corbett,
of Hensall, have moved to the
farm owned by Dr. A. R. Cam-
bell on the 2nd concession of
Hay and are nicely settled.
