Fred Weiberg has returned
home after spending a couple
•of weeks with his children and
families in Waterloo.
Mr. and Mrs. William Baker
and family, of Thamesford,
were Sunday guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Adolph Keller.
Mr. and Mrs, James Hayter
attended the convention for
rural municipalities at the
Royal York Hotel, Toronto, last
week.
Mrs. Amelia Desjardine
Mrs, Amelia Desjardine, 77,
of Grand Bend, passed away at
St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
Saturday, February 19. Her
husband, Leo, predeceased her
a number of years ago. They
farmed an the Blue Water
Highway prior to moving to
Grand Bend.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Hubert (Bougie) Reste-
mayer, Plattsville; Mrs. Gordon
(Donna) Price, Exeter; seven
sons, Melvin, Glenford; Lee -
land, Everett, Emerson, all of
Elfred, of Sarnia; two sisters,
Grand Bend; 011ace, Guelph;
Mrs. Ed Vincent, of Winnipeg;
Mrs, Elsie Bestard, of Stephen
Township; four brothers, Lee -
some and Wilfred, of Exeter;
Elmer and William, of Grand
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman funeral home
until Tuesday when the service
was conducted by Rev. E, J.
Wattam, with interment in the
Grand Bend Cemetery. The
sons acted as pall bearers.

Lose First Game
Hensall Pee Wees lost the
firrst game of the finals at
BIyth Friday evening, when
they were defeated by BIyth
Pee Wees 5-3.
Next game will be Friday
night at Hensall Arena, with
game time at 9 p.m.
Third game of the series will
be at Blyth on Saturday, Feb-
ruary 26.

FEBRUARY, 1916
Misses Lottie Galster and
Vera Siebert are attending the
millinery openings at London.
The members of the Luther
League of the Lutheran church
enjoyed themselves at a sleigh
ride party on Monday night.
They journeyed to the home
of Mr. and Mrs. John Kuntz,
14th concession, where a royal
welcome awaited them and
where they were well enter-
tained.
The Donnelly murder occur-
red in Biddulph Township 36
years ago, February 4, 1880.
James Donnelly and his wife,
their sons John and Thomas
and their niece were murdered
by a party of masked men, who
were never brought to justice.
Johnny O'Conner, a boy visiting
the Donnellys, escaped and was
a witness in the famous trial
which followed. He died years
ago.
The 100 acre farm, owned by
Mr. Jacob Meyer and situated
at what is known as Wagner's
Corner, has been purchased by
Mr, Jacob Quackenbush, son-in-
law of Mr. F. Schroeder of
town. The purchase price is
$5,500 and possession will be
given the last of March.

Mr. and Mrs. S. Witmer, of
the Babylon Line, drove up to
Holmesville with horse and
cutter to visit Mr William
Jervis who was hit last week
by a limb of a tree falling
aforehead The accident seem-
ed quite serious, but we are
pleased that Mr. Jervis is get-
ting along as well as can be
expected.

London last Thursday,

appendectomy operation in Sea -
forth on Saturday last. We
wish her speedy recovery.

FEBRUARY, 1941
Sorry to report that Mr. Wil-
liam O'Brien has been confined
to the house the past few days.
Miss Helen Dietz, of Dash-
wood, was a Sunday visitor at
the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Dietz.
Mrs, William T. Truemner, of
the 14th concession, has pur-
chased the house known as the
Axt property from F. C. Kaib-
fleisch and Son. The dwelling
is now occupied by Mr. and
Mrs. Millet and Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Bedard,
Mr and Mrs Harry G. Hess
entertained for dinner the Sun-
day school class of boys of
which their son Gordon is a
member and of which Mr. Lee
O'Brien is teacher. Rev, C. B.
Heekendorn was also present
and an enjoyable evening was
had by all.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Butter-
field, of Centralia, have moved
into the apartment of the Tat-
ter's aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Siebert,
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Ha-

a most pleasant trip to Florida.
Around 5,000 miles were cov-
ered on this sight-seeing tour.

were week -end visitors .at the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Laird Mickle, Hensall.

the local carnival.

and Tavistock last Tuesday.
Mr. Carl Scott, local bank
manager has been transferred
to Alvinston. His successor,
Mr. Bannister, tomes from
Lucknow,
Miss Arlene Haberer, a stu-
dent at University of Western
Ontario, was a week -end visitor
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ferd Haberer.

The general meeting of the
UCW will convene in the Unit-
ed Church on Monday, Feb-

to be convened by Unit 1.
World's Day of Prayer will
be held in Hensall United
Church, Friday, February 25,
at 3 p.m. Participating churches
are Hensall Angliean, Presby-
