Chamber Head
Lauds Government
On Economy
"The Ontario Chamber of
Commerce is pleased to note
the government's official read-
ing on the healthy state of our
provincial economy. The min-
ister announced last week that
the gross provincial product
increased 9 per cent last year,
and he looks forward with the
business community to a fur-
ther substantial increase in the
coming year," said L. D. Dou-
gan, president of the Ontario
organization.
"The budget proposes a very
large increase in provincial ex-
penditures but if such increases
are necessary, we the public
must be expected to pay for
them. The Chamber is pleased
to see the emphasis placed on
education which represents a
sound investment in the future l
of the province," he added.
