The Ontario Federation of
Agriculture is alarmed over
the delay in an announcement
from Ottawa concerning the in-
clusion of Ontario grains in
the government's feed freight
assistance programme.
Concern and disappointment
over the delay were expressed
this week by Charles Huffman,
president of the Ontario Fed-
eration of Agriculture. Mr.
Huffman stated he had receiv-
ed assurance from the Honour-
able Maurice Sauve that a re-
quest for an extension of the
feed freight policy to include
Ontario grains would receive
immediate attention and con-
sideration. He pointed •out
the request was formally pre-
ented to Mr. Sauve several
weeks ago but, so far, no an-
nouncement has been forth-
coming from Ottawa.
Corn harvesting is now in
full swing and Mr. Huffman
pointed out that a great deal
of uncertainty exists over the
cows in the Jackson herd.
Five of the bulls are sired by
J
HR Paladin Domino 40P,
who is siring a lot of good calv-
es. He is a deep, well flecked
bull weighing well over a ton
in pasture condition.
Twelve of the heifers are
sired by J H R Paladin Domino
40P, and Sell carrying the serv-
ice of Jaybee Silver Britisher

government's policy with re-
gard to freight assistance. This
is having a serious effect on the
market at a very critical time
when a great quanity of corn
is being offered for sale. The
trade is reluctant to make for-
ward commitments because of
the uncertainty and farmers
are facing a serious situation
due to lack of storage facil-
ities for a rapidly expanding
crop. He pointed out that corn
has become the number o n e
cash crop in Ontario and many
farmers rely on this as their
major source of income.
