Lutheran Women
Discuss Topic
Mrs. E. J. Deters and Mrs.
Herb Turkheim led in devotions
for the October meeting of
Lutheran Church Women. Rev.
A. Blackwell gave a detailed
explanation of the sacrament
of holy communion. He de-
scribed communion as a joyful
participation and s a i d, "we
come to communion expressing
our belief and asking forgive-
ness. We pray that we are
strengthened in God and toward
one another."
Mrs. Blackwell and Mrs. A.
Finkbeiner attended Waterloo
Lutheran University Auxiliary
meeting on September 29. A
report was given about the
many duties fulfilled.
Mrs. Charles Thiel, Mrs. Fink-
beiner, Mrs. Blackwell and Mrs.
Carl Willert attended a retreat
at Hanover on September 14
and 15. They reported a re-
treat is enjoyable and relaxing.
Interesting discussions and
Bible studies were conducted.
They expressed the attending
of a retreat is a personal gain.
During b u s i n e s s, arrange-
ments were made to have week-
ly Bible studies in November.
The membership committee rec-
ommended that visitations be
made to all ladies of the church
as stewardship and social du-
ties of the LCW members. Rec-
ommendation was approved.
The work committee express-
ed the need for quilts at WLTJ.
It was voted to do quilting in
January for WLU.
An invitation was accepted
to Hensall United Church, on
October 25, at 8:30.

Hockey Meeting a Flop
Thursday night's meeting to
form a town hockey league was
a complete flop. Only two
people showed up to express
their opinions on the matter
involved. Earlier in the week,
about a dozen people had 'stat-
ed that they were planning on
attending the meeting with one
group prepared to enter a team.
However, none of them showed
up and any thought we had of
trying to form a league has
been forgotten.
The team which entered the
Hensall Rec League last year
probably will do so again, but
they are waiting to see if the
league will operate once more
before they show any sign of
organizing.
