Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy and
Mr. and. Mrs. Garnet Mousseau
enjoyed a trip over the Thanks-
giving holiday through the Ad-
rondack Mountains to Lake
Placid. They returned by way
of Montreal. While in Montreal
Mr. and Mrs. Hoy were guests
of Rev. and Mrs. J. P. Ferguson
and Mr. and Mrs. Mousseau vis-
ited with a brother of Mrs.
Mousseau.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Weiberg
and family, of Centralia, Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Humphries,
Exeter, spent Thanksgiving with
Mr. and Mrs. Len Purdy.
The general meeting of the
United Church Women of Hen-
sall will be held Monday eve-
ning, October 25, when guest
speaker will be Dr. McMaster,
of Grand Bend, who will speak
and show pictures on Brazil.
Mrs. Sam Dougall is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Ex-
eter.
Mrs. J. E. McEwan was the
winner of a hamper on CKSL
Coffee Club, radio program,
London, •on Friday.
The Misses Beth and Faye
Troyer 'spent the week -end in
London with their sister Miss
Sandra Troyer.
The annual fall Rummage
Sale sponsored by the Kinette
Club held Saturday in the Leg-
ion Hall was •a great sucess.
Articles of clothing not sold
will be given to the United
Church bale.
Mrs. Harry Horton was the win-
ner of $100. in a three-way
split of the jackpot of $300, at
the bingo in the Legion Hall,
Exeter, Thursday evening, spon-
sored by the Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary of Exeter.
Hensall. Women's Institute Entertain
Grand Bend at Agriculture Meeting
Guest speaker at the agricul-
ture and Canadian industries
meeting of Hensall Women's
Institute, held Wednesday night
in the Legion. Hall, was Mrs.
Gordon Papple, of Seaforth,
who chose for her theme "Agri-
culture". She spoke on the in-
dustries and agricultural aspects
of various provinces in Canada.
The speaker was introduced
by Mrs. Fred Beer and thanked
by Mrs. Jack Corbett. Special
guests for the evening were
Grand Bend W.I.
Roll call: "Name a variety of
cheese". Mrs. Robert Simpson
presented the motto: "He who
tills the soil will reap a better
harvest".
Mrs. James McAllister and
Mrs. Clarence Reid were ap-
pointed delegates to the Lon-
don area convention being held.
in Victorian Inn, Stratford, No-
vember 2 and 3. Mrs. Wilbert
Dilling gave an interesting re-
port of the Huron County In-
stitute rally held at Walton.
A donation was given to the
CNIB. Mrs. Wayne Smith fav-
oured with accordion selections
and Miss M. Ellis gave a read-
ing, `Backseat driving in an air•
plane".
President Mrs. Beverly Bea-
ton chaired the meeting for the
business and extended a wel-
come to the members and
guests, and Mrs. Wes Richard-
son presided for the program.
Program convenors were Mrs.
Richardson and Mrs. Walker
Carlile; hostesses, Mrs. Clarence
Reid and Mrs. Garfield Brod-
erick.

LAYMEN'S SUNDAY
Laymen's Sunaa was ob-
served in the Hensall United
Church Sunday •morning. Offi-
ciant was Eric Mansfield, and
guest speaker was Murdock
Morrison, minister of the
Varna -Goshen charge, one of
the many laymen in the United
Church who have offered them-
selves for full-time work in the
church.
The congregational men's
choir sang. Rev. H. F. Currie,
who was recently appointed as
supervising pastor of the Varna -
Goshen charge, officiated for
the sacrament of communion
baptism.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
By the Ontario Tender Fruit Institute
"Buy Canada Choice. Canned Fruit"
PEAR HELENE
For serving of Pear Helene
use 2 canned Canadian
Bartlett pear halves which
have been drained and
chilled. Place them, stem
end up, in a sherbet glass
or bowl. Place a scoop of
vanilla ice cream between
the pear halves and drizzle
with chocolate syrup.
CHOCOLATE SYRUP
2 squares unsweetened
chocolate
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
dash of salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons butter
Cut chocolate in pieces and
stir over low heat in water
until dissolved and thick
and smooth. Add sugar
and salt. Stir until dis-
solved. Boil three minutes
and add vanilla and butter.
Serve hot or cold. May
be stored in covered jar in
refrigerator and reheated.

Hensall Kinettes
Plan Campaign
The regular meeting of Hen-
sall Kinette Club was held at
the home of Mrs. Jim Hyde
Wednesday evening, the occas-
ion of their ninth birthday.
President Mrs. William Fuss
chaired the meeting. Guest,
Mrs. Siebert, of Zurich, gave a
demonstration •on plastics and
driftwood.
The service committee re-
ported a gift had been sent to
their adopted child, Roselba,
in Italy.
A committee was drawn up
for the March of Dimes as fol-
lows; general chairman, presi-
dent, Mrs. Fuss; recruting, Mrs,
Bob Caldwell; supply and pub-
licity, Mrs. Harold Caldwell;
finance, Mrs. John Baker.
A donation was given to the
C.N.I:B. Next meeting will be
held at the Ontario Hospital,
Goderieb, on Wednesday, Octo-
ber 27, when members of the
Kinette Club and Kinsmen will
entertain the patietnts• there.
Mrs. John Baker won the raf-
fle.

Hensall Brownies
Enjoy Outing
The Hensall Brownie Pack,
accompanied by Brown Owl
Mrs. Robert Cook, and Tawny
Owls Mrs. Rodger Venner and
Mrs. Barrie Jackson and several
Guides, spent a most enjoyable
afternoon, with perfect weath-
er, at Grand Bend Saturday
afternoon.
Firrst they had a guided tour
of the Eisenbach Museum which
everyone found most interest-
ing. Following the tour the
Brownies and Guides went for
a (hike in the woods and along
the beach, and before boarding
the bus for home hot chocolate
and cookies were served at the
Golfview Restaurant.

ed Church, Hensall, Sunday eve-
ning for their opening meeting
and held nominations for elec-
tion of officers for 1965,66.

A curling club social was .held
at the Hensall Community Cen-
tre Friday evening, attended by
