Wedding
MERNER—EAGLESON
At Greenway United Church
In a setting of white gladioli,
blue mums, ferns and candela-
bra the ceremony uniting in
marriage Carolyn Diane Eagle-
son, daughter of Mr, and Mrs,
} arvey Eagelson, RR 3 Park -
bill, and Gerald Leonard Mern-
er, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Merner, RR 2, Zurich, was sol-
emnized by Rev. G. E. Morrow
on Friday, August 20, at '7 p.m.
Miss Evelyn Curts, RR 3,
Parkhill, played the wedding
:music and accompaniedthe
soloist, Miss Linda Hayter, of
Parkhill, who sang Wedding
Prayer and The Lord Is My
Shepherd.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride chose a gown of
chantilly lace styled in a sim-
ple sheath with Basque fitted
bodice and lily -point sleeves.
The floor -length skirt featured
a three -tiered fitted effect and
a bateau train of the lace in
cathedral length gave an ele-
gant back detail. A pearl and
crystal princess crown held her
two-tier French silk illusion
veil. She carried a cascade of
red roses and stephanotis.
Miss Barbara Love, Toronto,
cousin of the bride, was maid
of honor wearing a street -length
sheath gown of royal blue peau
de soie with full powder blue
lace overskirt accented with a
front bow. She wore a match-
ing flower hat and carried a
short cascade of white minia-
ture carnations. Miss Judy
Desch, Zurich, and Miss Helen
Eagleson, sister of the bride,
were bridesmaids •and were
gowned identically to the maid
of honor.
Garry Systema, Leamington,
was best man and Glen Rei-
chert, Zurich, cousin of the
groom, and Ken Eagleson, cous-
ing of the bride, ushered the
guests.
A reception was held in the
church rooms where the bride's
another received guests in a
taupe embossed crepe dress
with brown accessories and
corsage of bronze mums and
yellow roses. The groom's
mother chose royal blue crepe
with black and white accessor-
ies and corsage of red roses
and white mums.
For travelling in Northern
Ontario the bride donned a two-
piece suit in gold heather tones
with mink trim and corsage of
gold mums.
The couple will reside in To-
ronto.
Bride Feted
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored on several
occasions.
Shower hostesses include
Mrs. Harold Reichert. Zurich.
at her home; Mrs. William Bak-
er and Mrs. Ron Turner at
Greenway Anglican hall; Misses
Carol and Helen Brown at their
home; Misses Carol Foster and
Jane Dettmer at the former's
home at Whalen Corners.
The neighbors of the groom
held a presentation at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Schade and the young people
of the EUB church; Zurich, pre-
sented the couple with a gift.

Canadian social warkr Doris Clark invites you to write
Mr bout your problem. She answers letters of immoral
itterestin this column but can't undertake personal replies.
DEAR DORIS—It all started
through a dream I had. I
dreamt I was travelling and
met a television star we'll call
Mike. I married him and we
had two children.
Now I love this Mike of my
dreams. It's sad in a way, be-
cause I am so very much out of
love with my real boy friend.
If only I could meet Mike, find
out what he's really like, He
is certainly not too old for me.
Please don't laugh at me.
Tell me, is .it possible to love
someone like I love Mike?
Not a Crush
DEAR NOT—I'm not laugh-
ing. Your dream was so vivid
it seems to you quite possible.
What it tells me is that you
are longing to be in love with
someone. But you are mistak-
ing the attraction of sex for
love—which is made up of far
solider day-to-day devotion and
service than you dreamed about.
I'd sending you my leaflet,
"What Is Love?", which goes
into this. Stay with your flesh -
and -blood pal. (Note to read-
ers: This leaflet may be had
by writing to me in care of this
newspaper, enclosing ten cents
and a stamped, self-addressed
envelope.)
DEAR DORIS — I'm fed up
trying to talk to my husband
about his family, He gets hurt
very easily, but when some-
thing goes wrong that includes
my family he soon lets me
know. We are arguing now be-
cause my sister said the only
reason his mother buys clothes
for the baby is that they want
the baby to like them more
than my family, which isn't
true.
It's just that baby is the
first great-grandchild on one
side and first grandchild on the
other, and my family and his
are prety well grown up so it's agency.

How can I get Hubby to dis-
cuss his family?
Looking for Suggestions
DEAR LOOKING — People
are sensitive when they have
been hurt before, they have
their own suspicions but won't
admit them, or they feel in
some way inferior.
If you have unwittingly
seemed scornful in the past, or
if your folks seem superior in
some way, this would put your
ever-luvin' husband on the de-
fensive.
Show him you believe in him;
make friends with his mother;
and get that gossipy sister of
yours to improve her atitude.
Then he'll talk — about any-
thing his understanding wife
wants to talk about!
DEAR DORIS—We are con-
sidering adoption. But there
are problems. Are agencies
still fussy about a separate
room for a child? Must we be
church -goers? Does one have
to be a full time housewife?
I know of many mothers who
manage to raise children beau-
tifully and still work.
Potential Parent
DEAR POTENTIAL — Nowa-
days adoption agencies are
more interested in the parents
than in the set-up of the home.
Good parents are people who
have a satisfying marriage;
steady, well-balanced and heal-
thy people.
When you can provide a sep-
arate room, it is desirable. Re-
ligion. and some togetherness,
is also. An agency would not
likely place a young baby with
a working mother.
.Aside from such generalities.
every adoption arrangement is
completely individual, and you
should be discussing these
things with your local adoption
