Canadian social worker Doris Clark invites you to write
her about your problem. She answers letters of genera!
interest ht this column but can't undertake personal repiies.
DEAR DORIS —My husband regard for his family's welfare
does not believe in insurance
of any kind. He is a consult-
ing engineer and has no liabil-
ity or disability insurance, and
none at all on his life. He
thinks it is a waste of money.
If, God forbid, he should sud-
denly die (it's not an improb-
ability) T would never be able
he should protect you from
what could happen to him by
taking insurance. Perhaps he
has been cornered by a high
pressured salesman at some
time?
Some people think that mak
ing a will is the sante thing as
signing their own death war
to provide a good home and I rant. As a result, they may
education for our child.
What about making out a
will? That again is something
my husband doesn't believe in.
Facing Facts
DEAR FACING — Doesn't he
carry car insurance, or hospital
insurance? All such invest-
ments are a form of protection,

To Worried Friend — The
mother is unfair to use her hus-
band's memory as a kind of
club, When she says, (`Your
father would be upset if he
knew how you were behaving!",
she leaves Danny clubless. How
can he check on this? Or how
can he rebel?
DEAR DORIS — I wonder if
you would give me your opinion
about girls riding on Hondas or
small motor -bikes. Both my
Mom and Dad are against this
as they don't thing that it is
lady -like.
Also, I would like to hear
you views about girls playing
pool in mixed pool halls.
Just because they were taboo
for a girl many years ago, are
we still to remain in the dark
ages?
Cave Woman
DEAR CAVE WOMAN — A
girl can ride a motor bike or
play pool and still remain a
lady — but will she? It's not
so much the activity as the wild
crowd that seems to go with it
—the black jackets, the tough
guys—that tend to put it out of
bounds for the ladies.

DEAR DORIS —For the last
year I have been very nervous
about reading aloud in class.
This is something new for me
as I am a fluent reader. Now
nervousness makes my voice
tremble and I always run out
of breath.
At home we have family
Bible readings, and my cousins
were visiting us. As it was our
custom we read that night,
each of us to read two verses.
my father was nervovus and
unable to finish his.
When this happened, I
thought: what if I wasn't able
to read my two verses? This
terrified me and I couldn't do
it. How can I stop being so
terribly scared?
Seventeen
DEAR SEVENTEEN — You
aren't alone. Perhaps this year
you have become more aware
of yourself—a part of growing
up. We all experience such
qualms.
Practice alone and aloud.
And when you read, try think-
ing about the meaning of what
you are reading, and of ex-
pressing it well. If you can
concentrate on your subject in-
stead of on listen to your own
voice, you'll overcome your
panic.

Television Views

Regulatory bodies governing
broadcasters in both the United
States and Canada receive corn'
plaints from time to time about
"loud commercials".
Could a station lose its li-
cense because it aired a loud
commercial. Could an adver-
tising agency be prosecuted for
producing a loud blast, Could
a net work be fined for airing
loud commercials, Come now,
who's going to make laws like
that?
Too much time is spent com-
plaining about broadcast com-
mercials. You can thank a cer-
tain oil company and a brewer
for the hockey telecasts which
come to Canadians twice week-
ly during the season.
