She answers letters of general Interest in this column but can't undertake persona! replies. DEAR DORIS - My husband and I are its our late 40s. bast year we adopted a two yeal'•old girl because I insisted. Nov I fend I do not want to be tied down with a child. There are two more months before the adoption is made final. 1ty husband has become very attached to her and refuses to efiseuss ley not keeping her. Doris, she has screaming tan- trums. I knew this when I took her, but didn't tell him, The worker thought that with loving care she'd get over then). I've cleared up her eczema and bronchitis and she is in good physical health. I really feel I have net the patience at Illy age to stand the tantrums, I thought she would be cam. pang. Nerves DEAR NERVES --Thr sooner you and your husband begin acting like a unit, the better. Deceptions, failure to explain a point of view, refusal to discuss things --- all these characterize the house divided, And your little girl cannot feel the secur- ity she needs in such an atmos- phere. When a woman takes on a child to he "company", without thought of what she must give to her. in patient care and all that involves, she is doing it for the wrong motive. A 0 1' 1) U 5 discussion with your husband and with your child-care worker could redi- rect your thinking, ri11is Sumlmer This make it a GREA.T ONTARIO ADVENTURE VACATION Relive history amid nal urn! splendour in Central Ontario! a._.._.,__..._.._,._._ ......_ _....__ ___._. DEAR DORIS I found so much peeve of mind and satis- faction in your letter that I'm asking for your advice again. Aly daughter came back home. 1'ou will never know how pie asecl we were. But since being home she told us that she carne hontt' as a board- er, not as a daughter. She has never carried on a conversa- tion with us. Shall 1 ask her what is wrong? This silent treatment does not bother my husband, but it is eating lily heart out. Worried Mom DEAR MOM—I'm glad she's back ---but it seems she's only there in the flesh. I'd guess that your earlier attempts to have all the say about her do- ings have really made her clam up. Take a new tack. Ask her help about some family matter. I,et her see you'd value her ideas. A person needs to be needed, and with your over- protective attitude in the past, I'm quite sure it hasn't occur- red to her that you need her. Obviously she needs to know she is a part of this family—in more ways than one. Lean on. her. 7' 7 DEAR DORIS -- My boy friends and 1 went steady for seven months and planned on getting harried. Nov he has left me, saying he has looked at engagement rings, cold he thinks the world of inc. but he isn't sure if he is in love. My friends say it is my fault, as I am much Inc good to him and always available no platter when he calls. Maybe this is true. as I have often ,heard the saying, "Easy come, easy go".
