homes, and a day set aside to
show their respect.
This cooling Sunday will be
Father's Day, and like Mother's
Day there will be much cele-
bration throughout the land.
Many children will enter their
parent's hoarse to offer good
wishes to father, and for some
to seek advice from him. He
is regarded as a high authority
and perhaps equal to the high-
est in the land.
Therefore, like Mother's Day,
Father's Day is also set aside
and one to be respected, not
only by children but by all,
regardless of the distance to
reach their parent's home. Few
will want to be absent for that
glorious Father's Day.

Hear History o
New Nation
Mars. Charles Thiel gave a
history of the new natio n,
"Tanzania", et the June meet-
ing of the Lutheran Church
Wo me n. "On December 8,
1961, all Tanganyika awaited
the light of a new day. `Uhuru'
(freedom) and a senate to Tan-
ganyika's green, gold and black
flag now billowing -in the breeze
where the Union Jack had
waved."
The territory had been under
colonial rule since 1886 when
German explorers signed trea-
ties with a number of chiefs.
Until World War I the area was
known as German East Africa,
Then it was declared a man-
date of the League of Nations
under the administration of
Great Britain and then named
Tanganyika. Acknowledging
the value of relationship with
the United Kingdom, the legis-
lature voted to retain member-
ship with the Commonwealth.
In April, 1964, Tanganyika
negotiated 'a merger with the
off -shore island of Zanzibar.
The name Tanzania was then
adopted. The dynamic leader,
Dr. Julius Nyerere, continues
as president for the "new na-
tion" of Tanzania.
The entertainment on May 18
included guests from two
1lensall churches and Zurich's
United Brethren Church, The
film, "Ilarembee" was very
fitting for the program, the
theme being "forward and to-
getherness".
A presentation of a pin (a
symbol of LCW) was made to
Mrs. Waters as a reminder of
her faithfulness with LCW. She
and her family will join her
husband who is stationed at
Ragotville, Quebec,
Members were reminded to
hand their knitted squares to
the work committee. LCW will
provide snacks to teachers and
children at VCS.
The .church board served
lunch on June 13 to the con-
gregation after the morning
service, in honor of the newly
confirmed.

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!
"They that take the sword shall perish with the sword,"
Human life is sacred by creation. Human life is sacred
by redemption. Jesus Christ died that every man can be
forgiven. That is why Jesus warned his disciples, "They
that take the sword shall perish with the sword."
Those who train young men to kill and those who join
to bless their killing are equally guilty with those who
take the sword.
