Fire Causes

Firemen were called to ex-
tinguish a blaze in the McKen.

The regular meeting of Kip -
pen East Women's Institute will
be held Thursday evening, June
17, on account of Hensall Fair
being held on the regular night.
The meeting will be held in the
Legion Hall, Hensall, with Mrs.
Joyce Cooper and Mrs. Roger
Hoornaet as hostesses. R oll

ther my education since leav-
ing ;sehool". J. G. Burrows, Ex-
eter, inspector of public schools,
will be guest speaker.

Wedding

Merle Vera Betteridge and
Brian Richard Noakes ex-
change marriage vows at a cere-
mony conducted by Rev. George
Coyne in St. Patrick's Roman
Catholic Church, London. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and
lVfrs. Reginald Betteridge. Lon-
don. and the groom is the son
of Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Noakes,
London.
The bride chose a floor -length
gown of white nylon with lily -
point sleeves. The scoop neck-
line was edged with seed pearls
and the skirt extended to a
chapel train. A crown of pearls
held her two-tiered illusion
veil and she carried a cascade
of white carnations and red
roses.
Mrs. N. A. Betteridge was
matron of honor, and brides-
maids were Miss Lorene Pickles
and Mrs. Raymond Noakes. All
wore sheaths of turquoise or-
ganza over taffeta. Flower girl
Jane Seamon was dressed in
leme i shade.

Ronald Noakes ushered guests.
For a wedding trip to the
united States the bride chose a
truquoise sheath with matching
Boat, white accessories and yel-
low roses. The couple will live

The groom is the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Noakes,
lfensall. and his parents were
'former Hensall residents.

Married 25 Years
Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson,
of Hensall, celebratedtheir 25th
wedding anniversary .on Sun-
day, June 6, with a family din-
ner at the Dominion Hotel, Zur-
ich, The tea •table was centred
with a three-tier wedding cake,
flanked with peonies and red
tapers in silver holders.
Attending t h e •celebration
were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Mann. Bradley and Vicki, Hen-
sall; Keith Anderson, Petrolia;
Miss Ann Denomme• London;
Debbie Anderson, Hensall, and
:Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, moth-
er of Mr. Anderson.
After the dinner they re-
turned to the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Anderson, when the fam-
ily presented them with a large
wall mirror.

Flan Meeting
The annual meeting of the
executive and standing com-
mittee convenors of Kippen
East WI met at .the home of
Mrs. Robert Bell Tuesday eve-
ning, to plan for programs
for the coming year,
Plans were also made for a
fashion show of dinnerware
at the Hensall Community
Arena, October 20, when all
branches in South Huron dis-
trict will be invited,
A bus trip was also planned
for October 27, with Mrs.
,Grant MacLean and Mrs. Rob-
ert Bell in teharge.

Sol Kipfer
Mrs. Thomas Kyle, Sr., Hen-
sall, received word of the pass-
ing of her brother, Sol Kipfer,
of Madison, Minn., U.S.A„ who
died Thursday evening, June 3,
following a stroke.
He was born in Hay Township
and went to Madison some 40
years ago, where he farmed ex-
tensively.
Surviving are his wife, three
brothers, Ezra Kipfer, Hensall;
Sam Kipfer, Minn.; Dave, Iowa;
two sisters, Mrs, L. Desjardine,
Exeter, and Mrs. Kyle, Hensall.
Funeral •service was ;held on
Monday, June 7.

guests with Mr. and Mrs. Walt-
er Spencer and Greg.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Howe, Tor-
onto, spent the week -end with
the letters parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James Foster. Mrs. Howe. the
former Marie Foster, who is on
the staff at Eatons, Toronto
will be presented shortly with
a diamond ring in honor of 25

Legion Auxiliary
The monthly meting of the
Hensall Legion Auxiliary was
held Tuesday evening, with
president Mrs. Roy Smale in
charge. Plans for the annual
picnic to be held at Riverview
Park, Exeter_ on Sunday July
4, were made with supper to be
served at 5 p.m.
It was announced that the an-
nual Penny Sale was a great
sueess, with $120, taken in.
Mrs. Harold Campbell won
the attendance prize of $5. and
also won the guessing prize.

Entertain Meeting
Past Noble Grands' night
was observed at Amber Re-
bekah Lodge Wednesday eve-
ning, June 2.
Entertainment for the eve-
ning was provided by the Past
Noble Grands who for their se-
lection sang, "How Great Thou
Art" and did square dance
numbers to recorded music.
Members of the square dance
sets were Mrs. Ross Richardson,
Mrs. Alex MacBeath, Mrs.
Archie MacGregor, Mrs. How-
ard Lemmon, Mrs. Ernie Chip -
chase, Mrs. Beverly Beaton, Mrs.
R. A. Orr, Mrs. Edna Caldwell.
A humorous reading, "Bessie's
Doll", was given by Mrs. Alex
MacBeath.
Mrs, Edna Caldwell will at-
tend Grand Lodge Assembly at
the Royal York, Toronto, June
14 to 16, and will be installed
as district deputy president of
Huron district, Mrs. Clarence
V o l l a n d will attend as a
scholar.
A country store, in charge of
Mrs. Beaton realized a nice
sum of money, and a delicious
lunch was served by Mrs. Earl
Campbell and Mrs. Inez Mc-
Ewen.
Noble Grand Mrs. J. F. In-
gram presided for the business
and members of Monkton Lodge
were special guests.
