South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
John Passmore, •of Exeter,
formerly of Hensall, was taken
from Desjardine nursing home,
Exeter, and removed to South
Huron Hospital last Friday.
Miss Pauline Bell spent the
week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Al-
bert Bell and family at Bright's
Grove and attended the Briar -
wood skating arena.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Rigby, and
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Knights,
of Blenheim, were Saturday
evening supper guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart McQueen.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson, of
Birmingham, Mich., were recent
visitors with Mrs. Lou Simpson.
Ray McKenzie is enjoying a
vacation at Jasper Lake, Alta.
John Tudor, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Maurice Tudor, has grad-
uated with his BSc at the Uni-
versity of British Columbia.
Rev. H. F. Currie, minister of
Hensall United Church, is •con-
fined to his room with illness.

district convention in Buffalo.

rummage sale. The club is
sending a birthday gift to their

ley Smale attend Brownie Camp
at Gen Mac near Seaforth on
the holiday week -end. Mrs.
Isabel Gascho, of Zurich, was
in charge of the camp, the pur-
pose of which was to provide
training in camping for Brownie
Guiders in Huron Division.
Institute Picnic
The .annual picnic of Hensall
WI will be held on the lawn at
the home of Mrs. Garfield Brod-
erick on Wednesday, June 9,
supper at 6:30 p.m. Sports com-
mittee, Mrs. William Smale,
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Mrs. Wil-
bert Dilling.
Attend Service
The IOOF and Amber Re-
bekah lodges marched in a body
to St. Paul's Anglican Church
Sunday morning where they at-
tended divine service and were
addressed by Rev. J, P. Gandon,
who chose his theme "The
Ascension". The choir, under
the direction of Mrs. Frank For-
rest, sang an anthem, "break
forth into joy". The choir was
assisted by Harry Page, of
Trivitt Memorial Church, Ex-
eter.
Graduates
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cr. Lav-
ender, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lav-
ender, Brenda and Bradley, to-
gether with Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Lavender and Peri Michelle, of
Niagara Falls, attended the 10th
convocation of the University
of Waterloo on Saturday. Wil-
liam James Lavender graduated
from the University of Water-
loo with a Bachelor of Applied
Science degree in chemical en-
gineering.
At Convention
Mr. ,and Mrs. John Baker, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Hyde, Mr, and
Mrs. William Fuss, and Mr. and
Mrs. William Mickle attended
the Fort Erie Kinsmen conven-
tion in Buffalo. The Kinette
Club of Hensall won the junior
bulletin award for district one.

Auction a Success
The community auction sale
held in the Hensall Arena Fri-
day evening was very success-
ful and well attended, with
buying very brisk.
The committee in charge of
this project, Trevor Wilson, P.
L. McNaughton and Ed Corbett,
were pleased with the sale and
express their grateful thanks to
all those who donated and to
those who donated their com-
mission on articles sold.
Ed Corbett was auctioneer.
Proceeds, the amount of which
were unavailable at press time,
will be donated to the Minor
Athletic Association.
HensallWinners
At Clinton Bingo
Hensall bingo winners at the
Clinton Lions Arena Monday
evening were; Mrs. Howard
Smale, $30; Herb Hedden, $15;
Mrs. Garnet Whittaker, $50,
having to split on the $100
special.
Bingo was sponsored by Clin-
ton Legion Branch 140, for pro-
nation of minor sports in Clin-
ton and district; $1,050 was
given away in cash prizes. Hen-
sall was well represented.
Hensall Brownies Fly -Up to Guides
At Ceremony in United Church
An impressive ceremony was
held in the United Church hall
last Tuesday when five Hensall
Brownies: Shirley Smale, Car-
men Currie, Pauline Allan, Julie
Heal and Cathy Fuss, received
their wings and flew -up into
the Guide Company.
Present at the ceremony were
the division commissioner, Miss
MacMillan, and the district com-
missioner, Mrs. Thomas Laven-
der. A welcome was extended
to all by Guide Captain Mrs.
Robert Baker, and Rev. H. F.
Currie gave the opening prayer.
Miss MacMillan presented
Golden Hands to Shirley Smale,
Carmen Currie, Pauline Allan,
Julie Heal and Cathy Fuss, and
Golden Bars to Christine Van -
stone, Sherry Chuter, Melonie
Veal and Kathy Cook. Several
proficiency badges were also
awarded.
Fallowing the Fly -Up cere-
mony a skit on camp life was
performed by several Brownies
and songs were sang by the
Guides and Brownies. Lois
Simmons gave a very interest-
ing account of her trip to Owen
Sound on May 16 when she was
presented with her Gold Cord
certificate.
Mrs. Earl Rowe, president of
the LA, spoke to the mothers
present on how the funds were
used for Brownies and Guides,
and it was decided to hire a
bus for the Brownie Revel at
Centralia, June 10. Miss Mac-
Millan and Mrs. Lavender both
spoke on the responsibilities of
being a patrol leader and help-
ing the Brownie adjust to her
new role as a Guide, and camp-
ing.
The evening came to a close
with the presentation of flow-
ers by Dorothy Skea to Miss
MacMillan on behalf of the
Guides and Brownies, and
Brown Owl Mrs. Robert Cook
was presented with a china
Brownie cup and saucer, by
Shirley Smale and Judith Mic-
kle, in appreciation of all the
work she has done for the Hen-
sall Brownie Pack.

At Hensall Auxiliary Penny Sale
The annual penny sale, spon-
sored by Hensall Legion Ladies'
Auxiliary, was very successful,
with the draw made on Friday
evening in the Legion Hall, with
Clerk Earl Campbell drawing
the tickets.
Winners were from Callen-
der, Parkhill, Exeter, Seaforth,
Cromarty, Zurich, Kippen, Clin-
ton and Hensall.
