Untimely Death
On Sunday afternoon last,

of Gerard Kochut, of Kitchener,
in a car accident on a Bruce
County road just a short dis-
tance south of Gold Lake, His

badly shaken up but so far

A Mother's Day Thought
On Sunday last was Mother's
Day, a day set aside by the
authorities of our land. It is a
day that ehildren gather to-
gether at mother's home topay
her respect and to greet her on
the occasion.
Many children had travelled
afar to be present and those
who could not be present had
sent Mother's Day cards of
good wishes. Mothers of all
ages, young and old and in all
walks of life, had made prepar-
ations to welcome her children
in her hone on Mother's Day.
Mother has, from the cradle,
watched over her children and
many times in sickness spend-
ing hours at their bedside car-
ing for them and nursing them
to give them comfort. A11 of
that is the kindness of our
pothers.
During the past centuries
many time women have been
approached to give advice to
the highest authorities of •our
land and which were accepted.
They have also, from time to
time, played well their role in
society making it pleasing
to those concerned. Mother's
Day is not only the proclaimed
day by the authorities but every
day of the year. Those whose
mothers have passed on to the
great beyond, they too, on.
Mother's Day, had fond mem-
ories and offered prayers for
her.

Syrup Demand
Exceeds Supply
The demand for O n t a r i o
maple syrup continues to ex-
ceed the supply. To make mat-
ters worse, this past season has
been the lowest in production
for many years. Weather is al-
ways a factor, and this year it
has been far from favorable for
a good flow of sap. The other
factor is the scarcity and high
cost of efficient labor available
to produce maple syrup. Con-
ditions in this regard are quite
different now than a generation
or even a few years ago. For
this reason, maple syrup equip-

On the other hand, in the
form of family parties and visit-
ing groups of parents and chil-

production of maple syrup, Na-

first customers for the product.
In addition, friends and resi-
