Payment of fees and the name of a bird or flower with the same initial as your first name was the roll call. A card of thanks was received from Iris Becker for the gift she re- ceived from the Institute on obtaining her 4-H provincial honors. The executive also presented a musical number. Mrs. Eben Weigand had a display of linens and a quilt she had decorated with tube paints. She also had a friend- ship apron and each member wrote her name on it. Mr. Syd Baker and Mrs. John Rader gave a report of the spring executive meeting held in Hensall. The 4-H leaders for the garden club are Mrs. John Rader and Mrs. Rudolph Miller. They attended the t r a i n i n g school one day in Hensall and one day at Londesboro. The district annual will be held in Zurich EUB Church, May 18. Mrs. Ervin Rader was appointed area delegate. The Red Cross canvass resulted in $147.05 collected by the In- stitute. Annual reports were given by the secretary and convenors of committees. Mrs. Arnold Kuntz presided for the election of officers, with Mrs. Rudolph Miller giving the report of the nominating committee. A. bus trip is planned for May to Mitchell to tour Stacy's milk plant. Confirmation Service Eight young people of Zion Lutheran Church were exam- ined and confirmed by Rev. William Gatz during the Sun- day morning service, namely: Diane Becker, John Becker, David Gibson, Lorne Miller, David Neilson. Philip Rader, Mary Lau Shenck and Sheila Willert. Visitors in the community following confirmation were: Misses Connie and Sally Die- trich and Miss Meda Surerus, all of Zurich; Miss Beth Snell, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Willert, Mrs. Alma Willert and John. and Mr. and Mrs. William Willert, Joyce, Brian and Ronald, of Walkerton, with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Willert and fancily. New Members At the Palm Sunday service at the Evangelical UB Church three persons were received in- to membership on letters of transfer: Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Boyle, from Thornhill Presby- ! terian Church, and Mrs. Donald Bender on certificate of mem- bership from Hensall United Church. At this service the choir sang "Open the Gates of the Tem- ple"; Miss Lynda Tiernan sang "The Palms". Rev. M. J. James gave the Palm Sunday message. Present Cantata The Evangelical UB Church choir of 24 members presented the cantata, "Wonderful Sav- iour" Sunday evening. The choir is directed by Mrs. Mer- rill James and Mrs. Ken Mc- Crae is organist. Solo parts were taken by Mrs. Jack Gaiser, Mrs. Ron Braid, Miss Eleanor Wolfe, Stuart Wolfe, Stanley Haist and Harry Hoffman. President is Mrs. Ross Guen- ther; vice-president, Mrs. Jack Gaiser; secretary treasurer, Mrs. George Tiernan. 4-H Garden Club The first meeting of the 4-H girls' garden club was held on April 12, with 12 girls present. The leaders are Mrs. John Rader and Mrs. Rudolph Miller, After chener; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Webb opening with the 4 -II pledge the election of officers was held as follows: president, Dara Goodale; vice-president, Norma Weigand; secretary, Margaret Merner. The girls decided to call the club Dashwood Garden- ettes. The next meeting will be held April 19 at the community centre. The meeting closed with the "Queen". Mr. and Mrs. Mike Burke and daughter, of Brampton, spent the week -end with Milt Haugh, Mr, and Mrs. Ervin Rader family visited in London on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howe and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile, of Zurich; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gilbert, Mr. and. Mary Ann, daughter 'of Mr. and Mrs. James Hayter, had the privilege of going on tour with the St. Cecile Singers of Lon- don, to Montreal and Ottawa.
