I'm in a real rut. I weigh
169 pounds, am five foot four
and have no ambition. When I
was first married I worked in
an office all day and still kept
a spotless house. Now I am
home all day and just waste my
time. I do nothing but take
care of my children for two
weeks, then rush like mad the
third to get caught up,
I eat when I am not even
hungry, and get into moods
where I just give up on niy
house. I make out perfect
schedules and then never stick
to them more than a day.
Somehow I have to change or
my husband will only come
home to sleep. He has already
started drinking with the boys.
NEED SMARTENING UP
DEAR NEED—You've gone
stale on things. That schedule
of yours probably failed to in-
clude any time out for mothers.

DEAR DUBIOUS — Indeed I
do. Psychologists have plenty
of evidence that dreams seek to
convey suppressed thoughts

terpreted and related to a past
experience which carries the
same emotion as the dream.
In a. way, dreams serve as
safety valves in releasing pent-
up feelings. Some dreams give
us insight into ourselves we
don't have when we are awake.
A fine book has been written
about this for students by an
expert psychologist. Write in
for the name of it, enclosing a
stamped, self-addressed envel•
ope.
DEAR DORIS—When I ask
Torn to do anything around the
house he starts yelling and
arguing. We have five children
and I work from nine to four,
before coming hone to start in
on things here.
He won't even cut the grass.
He won't do anything for his
mother who is a widow of 75.
He won't -look at the children's
school work. He is too busy
watching TV.
I often thought of taking the
children and living with my
mother, as I can't go on this
way.
WORKING MOTHER
DEAR WORKING—A look at
Tom's background would prob-
ably reveal a child with no
chores to do; a teen-ager al-
lowed to run wild and with no
sense of responsibility for
home; obviously with a mother
who demanded nothing (and
still does).
So it doesn't even occur to
him that marriage is a sharing
—of everything; and that you
win your children's love and
friendship through companion-
able interest in what they do.
Are you equal to raising this
extra large little boy? A trained
counsellor at this point might
just give you the insight and
moral support which could save
your marriage.
To Manners on Leaving — As
a lady guest leaves, and she
bids gentlemen good -by, they
rise. If a man leaves, and
conies around to shake hands,
the men rise to do so. If he
just waves a good-bye from the
door to the room as a whole,
people merely wave back and
speak. Unless it's the boss or
.a dignitary. Or somebody else
important, like the guest of
honor.
