Clifford Britton, of Sea - forth. Presbytery was informed that 14 ministers are entering the United Church of Canada from such churches as; the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, the Evangelical Re- formed Church of Northwest Germany, the Chinese Christian Church of Formosa, the Church of Scotland, the Reformed Church of America. These min- isters will be received by Pres- byteries across Canada. Rev. Clifford G. Park, of Clin- ton, a member of the London - Huron Committee on Church Union, commented upon the prospects of union between the Anglican and United churches: "There are two requirements for a successful union between the two churches ---(1) the ac- ceptance of bishops of the Un- ited Church and (2) recognition by the Anglican Church of the United Church ministry as valid. without re -ordination. In the proposed new church the meth- od of establishing and conse- crating bishops should satisfy the Anglicans; then again, the fact that the bishops would be responsible to the church courts should make it acceptable to the United Church. We should also point out that this will be mutually acceptable member- ship as well as ministry. It should be kept in mind that the London - Huron's committee's findings have no authority out- side the London Conference and Huron Diocese; we do hope that our plan will spark dis- cussion and action." The United Church Women World Prayer Day Service Attended The World Day of Prayer service was held in Carmel Presbyterian Church last Fri- day afternoon with Mrs. Earl Campbell presiding for the pro- gram. gram. Mrs. John Love was soloist, accom- panied by Mrs. Harry Hess. Rev. J. C. Boyne, minister of the church and guest speaker, spoke on "What doth the Lord require of us." The centennial committee In- itiated plans for the observance of the Church's 40th anniver- sary when it designated Sun- day, June 6, as the day to hold such an event; it recommended that each congregation plan a local service with a speaker from another denomination as guest. "In such a way", the committee chairman, Rev. Cecil Jardine, Wingham, reported, "we can emphasize our mem- bership in the Church Catholic (or worldwide)." A solemn note was expressed regarding the shortage of or- dained ministers. Ninety men are lost each year in the church through death, retirement, etc. With the increase in the num- ber of new • churches being established and a poor enlist- ment in the ranks of students, the picture does not look good for the rural areas which would be the first to feel the shortage. 0 Summary Day Is Held in Seaforth At summary day for the Block Printing Course, held in the Seaforth Community Centre last Wednesday, ten clubs, including Blyth, Ethle, Forwich, Goder- ich, Kippen East, Tiger Dunlop, Molesworth, Seaforth, Wroxe- ter and Zurich, exhibited beau- tiful paintings on luncheon cloths, aprons, towels, curtains, drapes, dress e s, underwear, children's clothes, a shower cur- tain and crib quilt.
