Dashwood Youth
is Arse and has
Licence Suspended
William Walter Becker, 18,
of RR '3, Dashwood, who led
Exeter OPP Constables Wright
and Glassford on a merry chase
through Hay Township on Feb-
ruary 13, was fined $150 and
costs and forbidden to drive
for a year.
Becker appeared before Mag-
istrate
agistrate •Glenn Hays in Goderich
last Thursday charged with dan-
gerous driving, racing and con-
suming while a minor.
Constable W r 1 g h t testified
that Becker had driven his car
20 miles in 15 minutes. He said
the car failed to negotiate a
turn, crashed into a wire fence,
hit a stump and turned over.

Obituary
Mrs. H. Kuntz
Mrs. Harold Kuntz, the form-
er Lillian Rose, of Zurich, pass-
ed away Friday at Riverside
Hospital, in Windsor. She was
56 years old, and is survived
by her husband.
The funeral service was from
the James H. Sutton funeral
,home, in Windsor, on Monday
afternoon. Burial was in Vic-
toria Cemetery.

50 Years Ago
FEBRUARY, 1915
During the heavy rain on
Monday and Tuesday, and the
accompanying thaw, the drains
and ditches in the vicinity were
not able to take away the water
fast enough and many cellars
in the village were flooded,
some to the depth .of three feet.
Rev. 8, H. Carriers, of Grand
Bend, will preach in the Evan-
gelical Church, Dashwood, in
the absence of Rev. J. H. Gren-
zebach, who will attend the
dedication of .a new church at
St. Jacobs.
Quilting bees are the order
of the day at Blake.
The sum of $79 was realized
at the tea, sponsored by the
Hensal ladies in aid of the Pa-
triotic Fund.
N. A. Cantin returned from
Buffalo where he attended a
high grade stock sale and pur-
chased three standard bred
horses.

Varna, was destroyed by flames.

FEBRUARY, 1950
Marlene Wagner and Kathie
Kalbfleisch were the guests of
their teacher, Vic Dinnin, at a
supper meeting of Huron Coun-
tv teachers, held at Clinton.
The girls entertained with a
piano duet and Kathie contri-
buted a drum majorette drill.
Mr.a nd Nlrs, William Thiel
of Zurich entertained the mem-
bers of the CKNX program on
Saturday evening after the
show. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hey-
wood and daughter Patricia
staved for the week -end.
Mr. Sam Elsie, Dashwood, suf-
fered a fractured leg and is
home from the hospital.

A goodly number of people
from town and vicinity attend-
ed the recent hockey playoff
games and especially on Tues-
day evening at Lucan.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rader and
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Restemeyer
attended the 40th wedding anni-
versary of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin
Willert in Hensall.
Zurich Public Library showed
a bank balance of $83.84 at the
end of December, 1954.
The Lucan Irish lead the best
of seven series over the Zurich
Flyers one game to none.
Nancy Tieman, Dashwood,
was one of the students enrolled
at Music Teachers' College at
the UWO, who performed at a
recent concert there,
Parr Line Farm Forum met
at the home 'of Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Blackwell with 17
present.
Mrs. Charles Carr, of George-

Valentine Ideas
The shining blades of Miss
Pauline Bell, Hensall, a member
of the St. Thomas Figure Skat-
ing Club, skimmed over the ice
to the delight of the spectators
assembled at the Zurich Arena
for the recent Valentine Carn-
ival.
Zurich Majorettes showed
they were as much at home on
skates as in marching boots by
their display of skating routines.
Zurich Mites beat out the Hen-
sall club by a score of 3.2 when
the teams met in a pre -carnival
opener.
Carnival prize winners were:

Grenier.
Queen of the carnival: Sandra
Webb, Barbara Grenier, Kath-
ryn Grenier.
