were chosen to reign over proceedings at the
Valentine Ice Carnival held in the Zurich
Arena last Saturday night. The event was
well attended by area persons who donned
costumes and blades to add to the gaiety of
the evening.

Hensall Midgets Eliminate Zurich;
Zurich Jumiles Put Out Blyth
Two team fell by the way-
side in minor hockey activity
at the Zurich Arena on Monday
night, when the Zurich Midgets
were eliminated by Hensall, and.
the Blyth Juveniles were pushed
aside by the Zurich Juveniles,
Hensall won the first half of
the doubleheader 6-0 to easily
cap their series. while the Zur-
ich MAA crew swamped Blyth
9-4 in the second half.
Hensel, 6 -Zurich 0
The high -flying Hensall crew
scored one goal in the first, an-
other in the second, and then
came up with four more big
tallies in the last period.
G. Walker and K. Smale paced
the l:Iensall attack with two
goals each, while B. Soldan and
C. Dalyrmple each blinked the
red light once.
A total of six penalties were
handed out in the game, with
each team drawing three.
Zurich 9 -Blyth 4
After spotting the visitors an
early one -goal lead in the first
period, the Zurich MAA Juven-
iles roared back strong in the
second and third sessions to
soundly trounce their oppon-
ents. They won the best of
three series in two straight
games.
Barry Bloch, with two goals,
and Bill Schade and Dave Dur-
and with one each, were the
marksmen for Zurich in their
big second -period u p -r i s i n g.
Gary Jeoffrey, in the nets for
the locals, turned in a superla-
tive effort in holding the visi-
tors off the score sheet in that
period.
In the third period, highfly-
ing Schade scored his second
and third goals of the game,
while Ken Westlake, Robert
Bannister and Eugene Guenther
each tallied once.
A total of ten penalties were
called in the game, with six of
them going to the locals and
four to Blyth.
At press time, the club offi-
cials had not been -advised as
to whom they meet in the next
round of the WOAA playdowns.

Zurich Bantams
Beat Clinton RCAF
Enter Semi-finais
By virtue of their 4-3 win
over Clinton RCAF Bantams
last Friday night, the Zurich
MAA Bantams advanced into
the semi-finals of the WOAA,
and are currently playing a best
of three series with Brussels.
The first game was played in
Zurich last night, with the sec-
ond schedule for Brussels on
Friday night.
The locals jumped into a 2-0
lead in the first period, on goals
by John McKinley and Ron Cor-
riveau.
In the second period the Clin-
ton crew scored the only goal,
at the .25 second mark.
Ducharme scored at the .30
second make in the third period
to shoot Zurich into a 3-1 lead,
but a couple of minutes later
the Clinton six •came back with
their second goal of the game.
Midway through the period Cor-
riveau scored his second .goal
to give Zurich a commanding
4-2 lead, but minutes later the

RCAF erew came back with an-
other tally to threaten the lo-
cals. Brilliant netminding by
Fischer in the last ten minutes
of the game saved the day for
the Zurich team, and they
emerged with the group cham-
pionship.
Only two penalties were hand-
ed out in the game, both to
Clinton.

The Zurich Minor .Athletic
Association is asking a big favor
of parents and •other interested
persons throughout this area,
Thep need fronts off the boxes
of Jell -0 pudding products and
Je11-0 pie filling.
The fronts of these products
are good to obtain hockey sweat-
ers for the various teams play-
ing in the local association.
Since it requires a great num-
ber of the fronts, the associa-
tion will appreciate receiving
as many as possible.
Anyone who can help this
cause along is asked to leave
their fronts at Doerr's Superior
Store, Zurich.
