News of HENSALL District
Mrs. Gordon Troyer is a pa
tient in Clinton Public Hospital.
Miss M. Ellis, who had the
misfortune to fracture several
ribs in a fall at her home, is
recuperating nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith. Lindsay
and family were week -end visi-
tors with Mr. and Mrs. John
Henderson and family.
Mr. Doug Johnston, accoun-
tant at the Bank of Montreal
for the past 15 months, has
been transferred to the branch
at Chatham and expects to leave
in the near future. At present
Mr. Johnston holds the office of
treasurer of the Kinsmen Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston will be
missed here as they both took
an active part in the Kinsmen
and Kinette clubs.
Mr. John Henderson is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter, having suffered a frac-
tured hip in a fall at his home.

Unit 4 of UCW held their
first meeting of the new year
last Thursday afternoon. Lead.
•er Mrs. James McAllister, who
presided, opened with a New
Year's message; Miss Amy Lam-
mie read Scripture lesson and
Mrs. N. E. Cook •offered prayer.
Several recorded sacred selec-
tions were enjoyed. Rev. H.
Currie brought an inspiring New
Year's message.
Treasurer's report, submitted
by Mrs. W. B. Cross, showed
that 1964 had been a good year
financially. It was decided to
have a stocking project for
1965.
Mrs. Elgin Rowcliffe and Mrs.
Joe Ferguson were appointed
visiting committee. Refresh-
ments were served.
and family appear on the pro-
gram, "Canadians in Germany",
on television Christmas day.
Sgt. MacKinnon, who extended
greetings to his mother, broth-
ers Donald and Bill, has been
stationed in Germany for three
and a half years and expects to
be home some time this sum-
mer.

regular .meeting at the home of

Rebekah Lodge was held last
Wednesday evening with Mrs.
J. F. Ingrain, noble grand, in
the chair. Thank you notes
were read from the shut-ins of
the village who had received
lovely Christmas plants.
At the next meeting, January
20, a euchre for the CP&T'fund
will be held at the conclusion
of the meeting.
A social evening followed this
regular meeting with 10 tables
of euchre in play. The winners
were: Ladies' high, Mrs. Alice
Joynt; gent's high, Garnet Mous-
seau; travelling lone hands,
Mrs. Bert Riley; lucky cup, Mrs.
J. Ingram.

Plans for 1965
Wednesday. evening, January
6, the officers of Carmel Pres-
byterian Arnold Circle niet at
home •of their president, Mrs.
Go r don Schwalm. The pro-
gram for 1965 was drawn up
and two new resolutions were
made to be passed at •th•e Jan-
uary 18 meeting.
The evening closed with a
lovely lunch and tea served by
Mrs. Schwalm.

Leader Mrs. Edison Forrest
of Unit 2 UCW presided for the
January meeting, which opened
with a New Year's poem and
prayer. Mrs. J. F. Ingram con-
ducted the devotional, assisted
by Mrs. Harry Armstrong.
A film on "Trinidad" was
shown, and slides of the World's
Fair were shown by Mrs. Wal-
ter Spencer. Mrs. Dave Kyle
contributed a reading.
Hostesses Mrs. Byran Kyle
and Mrs. Roy Brock served
lunch.
No Bingo Nights
Until Stores Open
President Mrs, Roy Smale
chaired the Hensall Legion
Ladies' Auxiliary meeting last
Tuesday evening when it was
decided to discontinue the bingo
games until the stores were
opened again on Saturday
nights.
Plans were made for a euchre
party Januaity 22 and a bake
sale and tea on February 13.
Members also will canvass the
village in March for Red Cross
donations.
Winners of the mystery prize
was Mrs. Grant Bisback; atten-
dance prize, Mrs. Ed Munn; 50-
50 draw, Gordon Munn.
A penny sale and lunch
rounded out a delightful eve-
ning.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Denomme
and daughter, of London, spent
the week -end with the former's
mother, Mrs. Adeline Denomme,
on this highway,
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bedard,
of Seaforth, were week -end vis-
itors with Mr. and Mrs. Gar-
field Denomme. They also
called on other relatives before
returning to their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Pierre Du-
charme and family, of Dash-
wood, were Sunday last visitors
with the former's parents, Mr,
and Mrs. F. Ducharme, of the
Bluewater Highway.
Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Sopha,
from this highway, were Sunday
last visitors with their daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Deitrich, of the Goshen
Lirie south.
Several from this parish left
the past week for a sight-seeing
trip to the south — to the beau-
tiful State of Florida. It is in-
deed a well-planned outing and
one they will long remember.
The Jeffrey contractors of
this highway, accompanied by
Mr. Denis Charrette, are at pres-
ent engaged in putting up a
large building at Michael's Bay,
along Lake St. Clair. It will be
some time before the comple-
tion of this work. They come
home week -ends.
Mr, and Mrs. Lorne Den-
omme, of Sarnia, were Sunday
last visitors with relatives in
this community.
Mrs. Remi Denomme and Mrs.
Josephine Bedard, both in the
late Drysdale district, were vis-
itors on Monday last with Mr.
and Mrs. F. Ducharme. Mrs.
Bedard, being one among the
oldest women in this parish,
and with the Ducharmes also
