my Monsignor Bourdeau.

ped to the Sisters of Charity
for distribution to the poor.
The Sisters of St, Joseph re-

the House of Providence in
London. A 50 dollar donation
will be forwarded as help for
this cause.
CWL publicity wishes every
council to spark membership to
the league magazine. Ladies
can share a subscription and so
find the cost no burden at all.
Every school child will re-
ceive a bag of candy donated
by the CWL at Christmas.
Gifts for Monsignor Bourdeau
and the Sisters will be in cheque
form.
With completion of the busi-
ness portion there was an ex-
change of gifts among the
ladies. The meeting was voted
adjourned by Mrs. Dolph Sopha
and Mrs. Fred Seimon. Every
one enjoyed the Christmas
lunch which was served during
the social time.
Prayers to our Lady of Good
Counsel concluded the meeting.
Grand Bend Sees Winter Parade
As New Hope For Year -Round Resort
A parade with a difference
made its way through the snow-
covered streets of Grand Bend
on Saturday when the Grand
Bend Winter Sports Club kicked
off its 1964-65 season,
Bands from Brigdon and
Medford provided the march-
ing music as Zurich's major-
ettes twirled their batons
through the frosty air. Several
floats added to the gaiety, and
William "Santa Claus" Gossman
scattered ballons for the chil-
dren,
Grand Benders were delight-
ed and pleasantly surprised by
the number of persons who
turned out to .enjoy the parade
which began on the west end
of Main Street and disbanded
at the Green Forest Motor
Hotel,
Probably the most eye-catch-
ing float in the parade was the
entry of the Grand Bend Yacht
Club featuring a large boat
adorned by two pretty girls.
Ski togs topped with life pre-
servers provided a unique tie
between the winter and summer
fun to be found at the Bend.
Winter Playground, Too
Ski hills, toboggan runs, snow-
shoe trails and sleigh -ride facil-
ities are all provided just south
of Grand Bend for area winter
sport enthusiasts.

Both Pinery Provincial. Park
and the Winter Sports Club are
attempting to bring winter out-
door activities to the resort
which is so popular in the sum-
mer months.
It is believed that the swing
to winter fun in most parts of
the country can be a boon to
the economy of Grand Bend
where many of the natural re-
sources are right for develop-
ment.
Several hotel and restaurant
owners in the village are co-
operating in the long range plan
which is hoped to make Grand
Bend a year-round resort area.

Television Views
by William Whiting
Owners of Comniunity Anten-
na TV systems can breathe
easier now. Last summer a
proposal was announced to
bring CATV systems under BBG
licensing control which would
limit foreign control of these
firms to 25 per cent and protect
Canadian TV stations from
harmful competition. The with-
drawal of this proposed law was
practically unnoticed in the
last-minute rueh of spending
estimates through the House of
Commons.

With "Peyton Place" doing so
well in the U.S. and in the To-
ronto area, seen on Channel 7,
Buffalo, a group of 10 Canadian
TV stations purchased this juicy
material. Station in this area
to show "Peyton Place" is

the Thursday showing at 9 p.m.
ABC-TV informs us that on
December 28 they will present
a new daytime serial drama
about a widow who writes a
novel dealing with her small
town. Sounds familiar. All we
need now is a "Peyton Place"
on morning radio.
Manufacturers are saying that
when the Christmas shopping is
over the U.S. color TV set sales
will probably hit the one -and-
a -half million mark. We feel
it's time that color should be in-
troduced in Canada. Some TV
station heads are predicting
that this will happen next year.
If this is true, then we have
about three weeks before the
middle of the sixties arrives.
Walter Pidgeon will appear
in an upcoming episode of
Burke's Law ... NBC is pre-
paring a "special" about the life
of Pope Paul VI .. - Ida Lu-
