Zurich Citizens News, 1964-12-03, Page 7THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1964 PAGE SEVEN Huron Industry On the Decline Mr. Robert Sprier, of Goder- ich, brought up the question of industrial promotion in the County of Huron at the Huron County committee of the Mid - Western Development Associa- tion zone meeting in Clinton recently. Mr. Shrier suggested that there was a decline rather than a growth of industrial de- velopment in the area. He felt that one of the leading factors was the premium cost of trans- portation of materials in and out of the county and it was one of the main reasons why new industry was giving the municipalities in the county the cold shoulder. Mr. Shrier felt that the assis- tance of the provincial and fed- eral governments should be called up to give some equal- ization assistance to put the county transportation rotes on an equal basis to other local areas. The meeting brought out the important fact that very few municipalities were able to pre- sent their community to a pros- pective industry in a favorable manner. It was suggested that the municipalities should place themselves in the same light as Kippen News Mrs. Robert Dalrymple, of Brucefield, visited last 1VIonday with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Mc- Bride. IIIMEIMEREMANINESEIBENIPM FOWL BINGO in the DASHWOOD COMMUNITY CENTRE MON., Dec. 7 the industrial prospect; and they would then see what services and organization was lacking. If they had a housecleaning and prepared their plans and sub- missions ahead of time on a business basis, then they would be ready when the next suitable prospect came along, 'Phe discussion on this natter finally wound up with the re- solve that the lack of industrial expansion should be brought to the attention of county council. This meeting with council would also bring out the overall wishes of the municipalities within the county, to ascertain if the ap- proach to industrial settlement in the county can be made on a county basis, rather than on an individual municipal basis. It was pointed out that if one small municipality obtains an industry, then the whole county benefits directly or indirectly from improved employment. FRED BROAQLEY MOVES TO PARENT COMPANY Fred H.
