disaster occurred on Lake Hur-
on. A whole year has passed

and ships in that big storm is
still as great a mystery as ever.
Hardly a thing has been found
since and the graves of the
sailors and their boats will
never be known.
A dispatch from Ottawa says:
The post office department has
again consented to the use of
Christmas seals in aid of char-
itable institutions but only as.
stickers on the backs of letters.
They must not resemble post-
age stamps or bear numerals or
indications of value.
The contract for completing
the southwest breakwater at
Goderich harbor was let to Mr.
Birmingham. This means an
addition of 800 feet and will
reduce the entrance to 400 feet.
A convention of the Liberals
of the riding of South Huron
as constituted for Dominion
purposes was held in Clinton
on Wednesday.

Asked To Assist
Santa This Year
A Cristmas bureau has again
been organized by the board of
directors of the Children's Aid
Society of Huron County. This
was -done last year with great
success.
The objective is to ensure for
all needy children in the coun-
ty a happy Christmas. What
is also important is to prevent
overlapping by various organ-
izations so that no one gets too
much while others get very
little.
Those wishing to give through
the C.A.S. should have all dona-
tions except perishable food, in
to headquarters at Goderich be-
fore the end of November as
boxes must be packed the first
week of December.
Money is most acceptable for
buying gifts for older children
fEBRIPSEMINEWEIREENNESINEEIMINIZINEEItt

as these are more expensive
and not many are donated.
Money, new wearing apparel,
socks, mitts, layettes, jewellery,
toilet articles, stationery, games
for older children, flashlights,
billfolds, Christmas seals, rib-
bon, tags, wrapping paper and
donations of food, are all grate-
fully accepted.
Only new articles can be
used as Christmas gifts, but
clean, used clothing and bed-
ding in good condition are most
acceptable for the boxes,
Clothing for boys six to 16
years of age, and girls 10 to 16
is urgently needed.
Any donations from generous,
co-operative residents of this
area may be donated to Mrs.
Howard Klumpp, Dashwood, M,
