Miss Ann Bell visited Sunday with Mrs, Kay Bedard and fam- ily, of London. Hensall Guides and Brownies will canvass the village this Sat- urday to sell bags of home-made candy. This is an annual pro- ject. Mr. Fred Beer and Mr. Harry Horton attended the Canadian Corps Cyclist Battalion reunion at the King Edward Hotel, To- ronto, on Saturday, Novem- ber 7. Mr. James Bozzato, of Moisie, Quebec, is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Kyle, Kippen. Hensall Bowiers Enjoy Tournament Two teams of bowlers from Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxil- ary participated in a bowling tour lament at Exeter, Wednes- day, November 4. They were airs, Garnet Allan, Mrs. Howard Smale, Mrs. William Smale, Mrs. Harold Campbell, Mrs. Gordon Munn, Mrs. Jack Sim- mons, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Mrs. Harry Horton, Mrs. William H. Bell, Mrs. William Forrester, Mrs. Roy Smale, Mrs. Garnet Bisback. Mrs. Gordon Munn was the winner in the Branch draw 167; Mrs. Howard Smale won the door prize, a barbecue set, and Mrs. William Forrester, a car- ton of Pepsi. Mrs. Carl Payne is in London for two weeks attending an In- stitute on Maternal Health Teaching for nurses. Mrs. Harold Hansen, of Strat- ford, spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Violet Schwalm, and her brother, Ray. Mrs. Schwalm, who has been in poor health for the past few weeks, is improving, Mr. Hansen vis- ited at the Schwalm residence for the week -end and his wife returned home with him. Mrs. Keith Lindsay, Pamela, Sheila and Kevin, of Willow - dale, spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson, Jack, Sylvia and Kathie, Mr. Lindsay is enjoy- ing a hunting trip. Mr. and Mrs. Mansel Fowler, Goderich, were week -end guests with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McEwen. Mrs. A. Clark, who has been a patient in Clinton Public Hos- pital for the past month, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Murray, Toron- to, were week -end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Rapson. Miss Pauline Bell is a mem- ber of the St. Thomas Figure Skating Winter Club where she will skate each Sunday for the next 20 weeks under direction of Professional Donald Cum- ming, Chatham. Pauline will also skate in Goderich for the next 20 Saturdays under the Popular Bazaar Well Attended A successful and gratifying annual bazaar was held at Car- mel Presbyterian Church Satur- day, November 7. The fancy work, home produce and bake tables did a rushing business, and many ladies enjoyed after- noon tea with their friends. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprin- kle over pears. Place a paper - thin slice of lemon on each pear half and a marshmallow on top of the lemon slice. Place in a moderately hot oven (400 degrees F.) for about VI teaspoon cinnamon 1 lemon, sliced paper thin 6 marshmallows five minutes or until marsh- mallows are delicately brown- ed and pears are heated through. Bible Society Canvass During the past week Hensall has been successfully canvassed for the Bible Society. Repre- sentatives from the Anglican, Four New Leaders Take Guide Posts At a recent meeting of the local association of Hensall Guides and Brownies, (four new leaders were introduced and they were Captain Mrs. Robert Baker, Lientenant Mrs. Robert Caldwell; Tawnies Mrs. Rodger Venner and Mrs. Barry Jack- son. Plans were made for the an- nual candy sale to be held Sat- wday, ,November 14, when a house-to-house canvass of the village will be made. Twenty-five dollars was voted the United Church for use of the basement as a meeting place for the Guides and Brownies. Presbyterian and United churches covered the village in its entirety in an all-out effort to gather funds for the organ- ization, The United Church was rep- resented by Mrs. Albert Alex- ander, Mrs. Douglas Cook, Mrs. David Kyle, Mrs. Leona Parke, Mrs. Pearl Passmore, Mrs, Robin McAllister, Mrs. Earle Rowe and Mrs. Sim Roobol. 0 Rebekahs Donate To IOOF Home The regular meeting of Atn- ber Rebekah Lodge was held Wednesday evening with Noble Grand Mrs. J. F. Ingram presid- ing. A donation will be sent to the IOOF home in Barrie for their Christmas party. A social has been planned for the next meeting with proceeds for the children's shelter in Goderich, and each member is to bring a small item suitable for a prize. The Christmnas party will be held the first meeting in De- cember.
