Following ex -president Hoov-
er's death, NBC did a memorial
program and although the eon -
tent was good, there were sev-
eral technical errors. What we
saw was probably the "dress
rehearsal" they didn't have time
to do.

Family Surprises
Bayfield Couple
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hohner,
Bayfield, celebrated 25 years of
happy marriage last week and
the occasion was marked by a
Saturday night surprise party
at their home, planned by the
family of Mrs. Hohner. She is
the former Edith D e i c h e r t,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor
DeicheI't, Zurich.
The family enjoyed an eve-
ning of solo and friendly chit-
chat. Impromptu musical num-
bers and step -dancing displays
were staged by the lively group
to the delight of the celebrants.
Edgar Elligsen, Walton, read
the presentation address which
included the best wishes of the
family for the couple's contin-
ued happiness. An electric fry -
pan, a silver relish tray, a cake
stand and bath towels were re-
ceived by Mr. and Mrs. Hohner
who expressed their sincere
thanks. A smorgasbord lunch,
including anniversary cake, was
served.
Guests were present from
Zurich, Dashwood, Walton, Kit-
chener and Toronto. Numer-
ous cards and several telephone
messages from friends were re-
ceived by the couple as well.
The couple were we'd on Oc-
tober 29, 1939, in Zurich. They
were attended by Laura. Dei,
chert (Mrs. Cliff Pepper) and
Clarence Hohner. They have
resided at their Stanley Town-
ship farm on the Bronson Line
since their marriage, and have
one son, Allan.

Crop Report
Grain corn harvesting is pro-
gressing rapidly during the
warm sunny weather. Above
average yields have been re-
ported.
The sugar beet and turnip
harvest is well under way. Pas-
ture conditions continue to be
favorable in many areas. Win-
ter wheat appears to be well
established.
