Charles Mickle, London, vis- ited Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, Bob and Ann. Mrs. Ralph McArthur, Mac and Cam, left by jet for Win- nipeg after holidaying with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beer, and brother and sis- ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Beer, and family. They were met at Winnipeg by F/LT Ralph McArthur and motored to their home at Rivers, Man. Miss Sharon Riley, London, spent last week holidaying with Miss Ann Mickle. Doctor W. R. and Mrs. Sproat and family, of Windsor, return- ing from holidays at Rostrevor Beach Lodge, Lake Rosseau, will spend the long week -end with Mrs. Earle Sproat. Miss Pauline Bell, of St. Thomas School of Figure Skat- ing, was successful in passing a set of figures on Saturday, July 26. This is the second set of figures Pauline has captured in the past four months. Don- ald Cumming is her profes- sional. Union Services Services in the United Church Sunday morning were conduct- ed by Rev. H. F. Currie, who delivered a forceful and enlight- ing message. Harry Horton sang a pleasing solo, "In the Garden", with Mrs. John Turk- heun presiding at the organ consol. Flowers in the church sanctuary were in loving mem- ory of M:iss Eliza Newell, placed by members of the family. Currie, Mrs. Cur- rie and family will be on vaca- tion for the month of August. Mr, and Mrs. Alfred Smith and Herb Hedden spent the week -end visiting with Mrs. Pearl Hedden and family at St. Catharines. James Taylor has been ap- pointed a representative of the Travellers Insurance Company, specializing in all forms of in- surance. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy are vacationing this week with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Doug- las Wein, at Cape Breton Island on the east coast. Miss Diane Bedard, of Lon- don, has returned home after spending two weeks vacationing with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell. Rathwell Reunion Sixth annual Rathwell re - u n i o n was held at Seaforth Lions Park, Sunday, July 19, with 82 signing the register, with Mrs. Ray Fear, Clinton, in charge of registration. The 1965 slate of officers are: president, Orm Moffatt, Toron- to; vice-president, Gerald Rath - well, L u c k n o w; treasurer, D'Arcy Rathwell, Brucefield; secretary, Mrs. John Grigg, Clin- ton; contest committee, Mrs. Tom Rathwell, Clinton; Mrs. Floyd Turner, Varna; registra- tion, Mrs. Albert Horner, Sea - forth; park facilities, D'Arcy Rathwell; tea committee, Mrs. D'Arcy Rathwell, Mrs. Harry Plumsteel, Clinton; Mrs, Hazel Rathwell, Hensall. Contests were directed by president Harvey Stewart, with Fred Sloman, Orm Moffat and Cliff Stewart as judges. The 1965 picnic will be held as usual, third Sunday in July. Miss Eliza Newell Public funeral service for the late Miss Eliza M. Newell, 82, of Exeter, formerly of Hensall, was held from the Bonthron funeral home Friday, July 24, with Rev. Harold F. Currie con- ducting the service. Burial was in Hensall Union cemetery.
