Westlake Furniture Canadian social worker Doris Clark invites you to write her about your problem. She answers letters of general interest.in this column but can't undertake persona? replies. DEAR DORIS—MY sister was jilted at 18 and since has been wary of the opposite sex. Recently she met a very nice young man, through his sister. She is sure he is interested. She says she always sits out a few dances hoping he will ask her but he never does; he just stands and watches her. They speak, but he is quite shy, and when 'she gets near him she gets speechless. Doris, I have never seen my sister so serious and I ain afraid that it is just what it is: real serious. What can she do about it? PUZZLED DEAR PUZZLED—Why don't you be Cupid and take a shot at linking up these two faint hearts? There are times when a girl needs a mother or older sister to take a hand. You and your husband could invite him, his sister, your sis- ter, to your home for dinner or an evening do. Plan some- thing to do besides talk, so that two shy people can lose them- selves in laughter over some- thing that's fun. Then let nature take its course. DEAR DORIS—I am getting married for the second time and do not want too much in the way of frills, However, in all fairness to my new mate, CHUBB'S BARBER SHOP MAIN STREET — HENSALL HOURS: CLOSED MONDAY Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday— 8 to 6 Thursday and Saturday 8 to 9 p.m. who has never married, and is one of a fancily of ten, I would like to have a reception of some kind. Would an informal lawn buf- fet for a few close friends and relatives be OK? At the cere- mony itself we will have just two witnesses and any two 11 - year -old sons. SECOND WEDDING DEAR SECOND —"Informal buffet” strikes just the right note. But don't omit the toast to the bride. I am sending you a leaflet entitled "Wedding Toasts — Order and Content" Lions Elect International President Claude M. DeVorss of Wichita, Kansas, was elected President of Lions International at the Asso- ciation's 47th annual convention in Toronto, Canada, July 8-11. Lions International, with 720,000 members in 124 countries, is the world's largest service club or- ganization. Lions International is best known for its many youth pro- grams, community service proj- ects, sight conservation activities and aid to the blind. Last year Lions Clubs around the globe completed more than 400,000 in- dividual community projects. At times like this... you'll like Black Label Beer s y: ".ABEL, BLACK LABEL!" which includes an outline for this. (Available to readers writing in and enclosing a stamped envelope.) * *DEAR DORIS--We found out by accident that my girl friend is two years older than her par- ents brought her up to ;think she was. This was in order to cover up an illegitimate birth. Proving it is something else again, because the birth was not registered for two years. We could check with the fam- ily doctor, but are afraid he would go back to the parents. They claim she is 16, and have forbidden us to see each other, and we feel that if we can prove sheds 18 they would have to free her to marry me. I am older and deeply in love with her. SECRETLY ENGAGED DEAR SECRETLY—Your girl has a right to be her age. Why worry if it gets back to the err- ing parents? You need legal advice. But I'd suggest a "cooling off" period later, in which your beloved can experience freedom and think, without desperation, about her future. Then if she chooses you, you'll know it was love, not gratitude. M_ _M_GOOD!
