Smale, of Midland, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Keys and family. Mrs. C. L. Jinks is having the exterior of her home painted white with green trim. Eldon Jarrett is doing the painting. Miss Elaine Keys has accept- ed a position with the London Life insurance in London. Students of grade 8 of Hen- sall Public School, at the close of the school term Friday after- noon, presented their teacher, Mr. Robert Reaburn, principal of the school, with the gift of a brief case. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mousseau and Mrs. Irvin Willert left on Monday for an extended trip to the East Coast. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy, Michael and Billy, Mr. and Mrs, Garnet Mousseau and Cheryl left Saturday morning by car, the former to spend two weeks vacationing at Calgary, Alberta, and the latter to the coast to spend a month's holiday. Mrs. William Simpson, who has been a guest of her mother- in-law, Mrs. L. Simpson, for a week, has returned to her home in Birmingham, Mich. Her hus- band is on a six weeks' business trip in Australia. F/O John R. Beer, Mrs. Beer, David, John and Steven, of Moose Jaw, Sask., are visiting with relatives in Hensall and Brussels. F/0 Beer is on tem- porary duty at Centralia air- port. The strawberry and ham sup- per held in Brucefield United Church Tuesday evening was a great success. Over four hun- dred people were served and $540 was cleared. U.C.W. con- vened the project. Mrs. Ralph McArthur, Mac and Cam, of Rivers, Man., are spending two weeks' holiday with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beer, and with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Beer, and family. They flew by plane. Summer Playground Hensall Recreation Council is sponsoring a summer play- ground for children 5 to 12 years, commencing M o n d a y, July 6, from 9 to 12 daily. The playground will feature arts, crafts, parades, field day, and . other sports. Recreation direc- tor is Eric Mansfield, assistants are Miss Cathy Scane, Miss Ann Mickle, Don Lenaghan and Bill Soldan. The various sports will be held in the Community Park. Allan Reid is vacationing with relatives at Tiverton. David Pyette was one of the delegates from South Huron District High School to the United Nations Seminar at Western University last week. Mrs. R. J. Paterson has lost her pet budgie which she has had for six years, yellow and green in color and answering to the name of Jackie Paterson. Any information regarding this bird will be appreciated. Unit 3 UCW The final meeting until after the summer vacation period of Unit 3 of UCW was held with Mrs, Ron Mock presiding and opening with a poem, "Out- look". Devotional "Endurance" was taken by Mrs. Jack Sim- mons, assisted by Mrs. Charles Eckel and Mrs. Wilmer Fergu- son. The Bible study on the later Old Testament history was taken by Mrs. William Mickle. This unit will cater for a wed- ding in August for which plans were made. Hensall Board Honours Member Hensall school board, teach- ers, wives and husbands en- joyed a banquet at the Latin Quarter, London, last Tuesday. Howard Scane, chairman, and Robert Reaburn, secretary -treas- urer, were presented with desk sets as this is their last year on the Hensall school board. At the beginning of 1965 they will be amalgamated with Hay Township School. Area. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Davis were unable to be present, due to the fact that Mrs. Davis, a member of the board, is ill in St. Jo- seph's Hospital, London. 0 Musk Results of Hensall Teacher The following pupils of Miss Greta Lammie were successful in passing the mid -summer ex- aminations of the Royal Con- servatory of Music of Toronto. Grade seven piano, Kenneth Jones; grade eight piano, Janice Brataud; grade eight piano, Jim Traquair; grade two theory, Jane Pyette, first class honours. 0 Obituary Mrs. Stanley Love Mrs, Stanley Love, 69, of Exe- ter, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Friday, June 26. Former Oda Evelyn Mc - Beath, she is survived by her husband, sister, Mrs. George (Isabelle) Kennard, Exeter; Mrs. Alvin (Rena) McBride, Exeter; Mrs Cleve (Jessie) Cochrane, Seaforth; Mrs. John (Mabel) Jarrott, Hensall. Funeral service was held from the R. C. Dinney funeral home, Exeter, Monday, with burial in Baird's cemetery, Brucefield. Rebekah Lodge service was held at the funeral home Satur- day evening, and Eastern Star service Sunday evening, also at the funeral home. The books are sell- ing for one dollar. In Hensall the recipe books are available from Mrs. Maude Hedden; in Zurich they are available from Mrs. Howard Finkbeiner, and in the Kippen- Brucefield area they are avail- able from any member of the Institute. The books contain 100 pages of latest recipes from some of the best cooks in the district, and are well worth the price being asked for them. Medd and John A. Armstrong was solemnized on Saturday, June 13, 1964, at 4 p.m., in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clin- ton, with Rev. Father S. E. Mc- Guire officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Lloyd J. Medd, RR 1, Clinton, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Armstrong, RR 1, Varna. The bride's dress was a white floor length gown of silk or- ganza over taffeta, V -neckline, fitted bodice and a full skirt fell into a train. Her headpiece was of nylon net veil and form- ed like a rose of silk organza and small petals. She carried deep pink roses. The matron of honor was Mrs. Joe Williams, London, sis- ter of the bride, who wore a bell-shaped blue sheath of silk organza over taffeta. Miss Lois Rathwell, RR 3, Clinton, and Mrs. Barbara Hymers, the bridesmaids, were dressed identically to the ma- tron of honor. Showers Mrs. Joseph Williams, Lon- don, and Miss Marjorie Medd, London, entertained in honor of their sister, Patricia, at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Medd. She was assisted by the groom's mother, Mrs. Allan Armstrong, who received the guests. Displaying the trousseau were Mrs. Gary Freeman, Miss Lois Rathwell, Miss Edith Dowson, Mrs. Maynard Hymers and Mrs. William Stanbury, Miss Mary Armstrong was in charge of the guests at the door. The tea table was decorated with a red rose centrepiece with pink and white candelabra on a white linen cloth. Pouring tea during the evening were Mrs. Garnet Mousseau, Mrs. Ray Finch, Mrs, Harold Connell, Mrs. Harold Morrell, Miss Eileen Tighe and Mrs. Mac Le. Beau. Assisting in the kitchen were Mrs. Michael Williams,. Mrs. Theo Flynn, Mrs. A. L. Shanahan, Mrs. Clem Reynolds. Serving in the dining room were Miss Glenyce Jewitt, Mrs. Bill Stanbury, Miss Vicki Finch and Miss Cheryl Mousseau. Miss Mary Armstrong and Mrs, William Stanbury enter, tained at the home of their mother, Mrs. Allan Armstrong at a grocery shower in honour of Miss Patricia Medd. Contests were conducted by the host- esses. A dainty lunch was served by Mrs. Howard Arm:. strong and Mrs. Floyd Arm- strong.
