Sympathy is expressed to Mrs.
Robert Reaburn on the death
of her mother, Mrs. J. H. Rob-
ertson, who passed away at Port
Elgin on Tuesday, May 19,
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kennedy
have returned from a vacation
spent with relatives in Fenelon
Falls and Hamilton.
Mrs. Rose Watts
Funeral service for Mrs. Rose
Amelia Watts, 83, of Clinton.
was held Thursday from Ball &
Mutch funeral •home, Clinton,
with burial in Clinton cemetery.
Mrs. Watts, who died Tuesday
at the home of her daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Brintnell, RR 1, Hen-
sall, is survived by one daugh-
ter (Dorothy), Mrs. T. Brintnell,
RR 1, Hensall, and one sister,
Mrs, Maude Reid, Toronto. She
was the widow of Frederick W.
Watts.
Wedding Anniversary
Mr, and. Mrs. Walter Spencer
were pleasantly surprised this
past week when their families
gathered to honor them with a
dinner, on the occasion of their
25th wedding anniversary. Rel-
atives attended from Toronto,
Sarnia, Kincardine and Exeter.
Mrs. G. Miller
Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie re-
ceived word of the death of her
sister, Mrs. G. Alice Miller, of
S e a t t 1 e, Washington, U.S.A.,
who passed away Tuesday eve-
ning. She was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Cochrane, of Kippen,
Surviving sisters are Mrs. A.
E. Northey, Cameron; Mrs. Hugh
McMurtrie, Hensall; Mrs. Lorne
Eiler, Toronto; Mrs. R. S. Hop-
kins, Chicago; Mrs. Ross Dick,
London; Mrs, Charles Robinson,
Bath; brothers; J. C. Cochrane,
Seaforth; James W. Cochrane,
Toronto; William E, Cochrane,
Chicago.
She was predeceased by her
husband; one sister, Mrs. A.
Krueger, Seattle; one brother,
Allan, Hensall.
Hensall Legion Branch 468,
observing the 50th .anniversary
of World War I, are holding a
Commemoration Dinner in the
Legion Hall, Friday, May 29, at
6:30 p.m,, and a "Reunion" of
its members who were veterans
of the 1914.1918 conflict.
Flowers at the United Church
Sunday morning were in loving
memory of Clair F. Deneau,
placed there by the family.

Leaving, Hensall
Sgt. 0. G. Williams, who has
been stationed at Clinton RCAF
Station for the past three and
a half years, has been posted
to North Bay, Mrs. Williams
and family, who have been resi-
dent here for the past three
and a half years, will move to
North Bay in June, at the com-
pletion of the school term.
They will be much missed from
the village having made many
friends during their residence
here.
Mrs, H. J. Stokes, of Mont-
real, spent the week -end with
Mr. and Mrs. Walker Carlile,
and other relatives.
The barber business of the
late Clair Deneau has been sold
to Don (Chub) McCurdy, of Ex-
eter, who gets possession this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Wes Richard-
son and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Rich-
ardson returned Monday from
a week -end fishing trip at Kirk -
field, on Lake Simcoe. They
reported fishing poor, owing to
rough weather.

Arnold Circle of
Carmel Church
Accepts Invitation
The May meeting of the Arn-
old Circle of Carmel Presby-
terian Church was held Mon-
day evening with the meeting
chaired by president Mrs. Gor-
don Schwalm, who reviewed
articles from the Presbyterian
Record. Miss Hannah Murray
reported on the Presbyterial.
Program and worship was
conducted by Mrs. Robert Bell
and Mrs. Stewart Bell, who pre-
sented the topic on "Educa-
tional Work in India", assisted
by Mrs. Harry Hoy, Mrs. Ed
Fink, Mrs. Al Hoggarth and
Mrs. Gerald Bell.
An invitation to attend the
annual birthday party of the
W.M.S. of the church on June
18 was accepted.
Mrs. Bert Viau, soloist, sang,
"How Great Thou Art", and
"On the Wings of a Dove". Mrs.
Harry Snell pronounced the
benediction. Lunch was served
by Mrs. John. Skea, Miss Han-
nah Murray, Mrs, Schwalm.

Mrs. Bob Caldwell was host-
ess for the Kinette meeting
Wednesday evening, with presi-
dent Mrs. John Deitz presiding,
who welcomed a guest, Mrs.
Murray Baker. A birthday gift
was sent to the club's foster
child in Italy, Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale won the raffle.
Progressive euchre was play-
ed with prizes won by Mrs. Ron
Wareing and Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale. Lunch was served by the
hostess.

For 4-H Ciubs
Five members of 4-H Home-
making Clubs in Huron County
received provincial honors at
an Achievement Day held in
South Huron District HI g h
School Saturday. Eleven clubs
participated in the project,
"What Shall I Wear?"
Provincial winners were:
Barbara Webber, No. 1, Hensall;
Barbara Hern, No. 1, Woodham;
Glenyce Jewitt, No, 1, Clinton;
Frances Skinner, No. 1, Cent-
tralia, and Mrs. Margaret Skin-
ner, No. 1 Wooham.
County honors went to Mari-
on Roberts, No. 2, Kippen; Dor-
is Riley, No. 2, Kippen; Nancy
Strang, No. 1, Hensall; Marlene
Webber, No. 1, Hensall; Linda
Miller, No. 1, Dashwood; Tina
Wammes, No. 1, Clinton; Joan
Becker, Dashwood; Janet Miller,
Dashwood; Janet Blair, Cen-
tralia, and Lynn Otis, No. 3,
Exeter.
The awards were presented
by Mrs. James Drummond, Kip -
pen, president of South Huron
District Women's Institutes.
Demonstrations, skits and ex-
hibits were presented by the
following c 1 u b s: Dashwood;
lhlimville No. 1; Grand Bend,
with Linda Miller; Crediton,
with Wendy Neil; Kippen East,
with Ann Kleinharr; Seaforth;
Zurich, No. 2, with Joanne
Theil; Hurondale, with Jose-
phine Westlake; Zurich; and
Hurondale No. 2, with Margaret
Hyde.
Mrs. Ian Holm, Bruce County
home economist, commented on
the demonstrations and skits
and Mrs. Shirley McAllister,
Zurich, discussed the exhibits.
Mrs. Harry Dougall was pre-
sented with a leadership certifi-
cate by Miss Patricia Damude,
Htiron County home economist,
who was in charge of the event.

Unit 3 of U.C.W. met for
their May meeting Monday eve-
ning, with Mrs, Ron Mock in
the chair. The devotional "Live
Your Faith" was conducted by
Mrs. Walker Carlile, assisted by
Mrs, Eric Mansfield and Mrs,
Jack Simmons.
Mrs, Pearl Passmore reported
for the visiting committee. This
unit will be responsible for the
nursery and church flowers for
June.
Mrs. Orrin Williams present-
ed the study "The Way in India
and Nepal". Mrs. William Fuss
rendered a lovely solo, "Near
To the Heart of God", accom-
panied at the piano by Mrs.
Cecil Pepper, pianist for the
unit.
Mrs. William was presented
with a going -away gift of a cup
and saucer by Miss Mary Good-
win.
