who drove it into the empty
net for the final goal of 'the
game.
Steve Kyle, who has been
turning in a fine performance
on the Combines' blueline,
served double duty in the game
as he filled in on the Shaddick-
Kyle line for the injured Earl
Wagner, as well as taking a
turn on defence. Along with
Kyle, Russ Klopp played well
on defence, handing out num-
erous body checks and breaking
up many scoring threats
Combines were handed out
seven manor penalties, com-
pared to six for Stouffville.
Combines 6-Stauffville 3
In Hensall last Wednesday
night, the Hensall-Zurich Com-
bines won the first game of
their best -of -seven series with
Stouffville, 6-3. without too
much effort. The locals scored
once in the first, four times in
the second and once more in
the third,
With only a little over a min-
ute played in the first periocl,
Mike Cushman banged in a
pass from Bob Livermore to
shoot the Combines into an
early 1-0 lead. Even though
they carried the bulk of the
play throughout the rest of the
session, the locals could not
add to their score.
At the 3:15 mark in the sec-
ond period, Bill Shaddick tipped
in a pass from Earl Wagner and
Dale Turvey, to give the locals
a 2-0 lead. The teams battled
on even terms until midway
through the period, when Bruce
Cooper scored from Cushman.
The prettiest goal of the game
came about four minutes later
when Livermore and Cushman
broke out of their own end,
with the latter carrying the
puck. A quick pass to Liver-
more just outside the Stouff-
ville blueline allowed the classy
right-winger to sift in on goal
Fourth Game
and score. Ron Brown scored
the lone goal of the period for
the visitors, when his shot on
Amacher was deflected into the
Combines' goal, at 17:25. Cush-
man scored his second goal of
the game with only 30 seconds
to go in the period, when he
took a pass from defeneeman
Steve Kyle and cleanly heat
Glen Jackson in the Clipper's
net.
The Combines lost the serv-
ices of Earl Wagner in the sec-
ond period, when he suffered
a broken bone in his right hand.
He missed the entire third
period.
Early in the third period,
Stouffville roared back with a
big goal, when Rod Kelson
scored from Brown. Midway
through the period Co op e r
found the range again for the
Combines, when he picked up
a neat pass from Cushman in
the Clippers' end, and flipped
the puck past Jackson. The
final goal of the game was
scored by Ken Aida for Stouff-

The Combines also lost the
services of defensive stalwart
Dale Turvey in the third period,
when he left the game with a
dis-located knee cap.
Only six penalties were hand-
ed out in the game, with five
of them going to the visitors.
Dennis Amacher, in the Com-
bines' net, came up with a num-
ber of sensational saves
throughout, and kept his team-
mates in the game on numer-
ous occasions when they seemed
to weaken.
