HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1964-04-23, Page 7THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 1964 Obituary Armand Denomme A well-known and highly re- spected resident of this area all his life, Armand Denomme passed away at St. Joseph's Hos- pital, London, on Saturday, April 18. He was in his 66th year. Born at St. Joseph's, Hay Township, on October 29, 1898, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Regis DenoMme. For many years he farmed on the Bluewater highway north, be- fore retiring to Zurich a couple of years ago. Surviving besides his wife, the former Juliet Charrette, are three daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Lucienne) Denomme, London; Mrs. Henry (Matilda) Rau, RR 2, Zurich; Mrs. Michael (Yvonne) Hartman, Toronto; six sons, Benjamin, Montreal; Clemence, "Blackie", Ambrose, Joseph and Albert, all Kitchener; Alexan- der, Detroit; Peter, Waterloo; one brother, Maxim, Toronto; lone sister, Mrs. Beatrice Over- holt, RR 2, Zurich. The body rested at the West- lake funeral home, Zurich, until Tuesday morning, when re- moval was made to St. Boniface Church, Zurich, where Mass was performed by Father C. A. Doyle. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, St. Joseph's 0 Goshen UCW Meet At McBride Home The April meeting of the Goshen United Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Clare McBride, on April 16. Mrs, Floyd Armstrong opened the meeting, followed by hymn 380. NEWS OF KIPPEN DISTRICT Correspondent, Mrs. Norman Long Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones, Kenneth and Grant, visited Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Ellison Whiting and family, at Park- hill. Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Little. ton, of London, spent the week- end with the latter's sister, Mrs. Russel Faber, and Russel, and called on the Littleton family, Silver Wedding Anniversary Mr. Robert Thomson, of Kip - pen, accompanied by Mr. Lloyd Thomson, attended a party in honor of the 25th wedding anni- versary of his •daughter, Pearl, and her husband, Clarence Priestop, on Saturday evening, April 11, at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Aubrey Vorstanbosch, and her husband Bert, at Mitchell. The house was decorated in pink and sil- ver as were the tables which had pink roses and a wedding cake in pink and silver in the centre of head table. Mr. Ted Foster was master of ceremon- ies. Mrs. John Priestop read the address when many beauti- ful gifts were received, includ- ing silver tea service, blankets, clock, large wall mirror and silver dishes. Mrs. Vorstenbosch served a bountiful turkey supper, after which cards were enjoyed by , all. Guests were present from Parry Sound, Toronto, Embro, Stratford, London, Sebringville, Mitchell, Kippen and Hensall. Thrifty Kippenettes The regular meeting of the 4-H Club was held Saturday, April 11, at the home of Mrs. Robert Bell. The meeting open- ed with the 4-H pledge, nine members answering the roll call, Ann Klein -Haar read the minutes of the last meeting. Achievement Day was then dis- cussed. The girls practised judging for Achievement Day. The record books have to be in by May 1. The meeting closed with "The Queen". Personals Recent visitors with Mr. and PADS SEVEN Mrs. Herbert Kerelter and Ross included Mr, and Mrs. Wesley Kennedy and Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Donald of Forest, Mr. and Mrs. Jam Jordan of Lon- don, and Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Jeffrey and family of Staffa. Mr. and Mrs.` Roger lioornaert and two children of near Sea- forth are residing on the farm formerly owned by Mrs. Robert Elgie, of Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Van Loon and family moved recent- ly onto the MacMillan farm, on the 8th concession of Tucker - smith. The Misses Sharon McBride and Margaret Elgie, and David Cooper, of the University of Western Ontario, spent the week -end at their homes. MR. AND MRS. ANTHONY ALPHONSE BEDARD were married recently in St. Boniface Church, Zurich, by Father C. A. Doyle. The bride is Marlene Grace, daughter of Mir. and Mrs, Earl Dignan, RR. 2, Hensall, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bedard, RR 2, Zurich. (Photo by Jack Doerr) Scripture was read by Mrs. Armstrong f r o m St. Luke, chapter 11, verses 1 too. Bible study was on the Lord's Prayer, and Mrs. Armstrong read the lines. Mrs. Anson McKinley gave the commentary. The study book was, "One Household in Faith, United Mis- sions and Christians in Nepal", taken by Mrs, Roy McBride, Mrs. James Keys and Mrs. An- son McKinley. Mrs. Melvion Elliott then took charge. Minutes were react and approved. Nineteen members answered the roll call. A motion was made to enter- tain in May. The meeting closed by singing hymn 166 and prayer by Mrs. Bob Peck.
