News of HENSALL [istrict
Edwin Taylor and his sister,
Mrs. Gordon Munn, are leaving
by Jet Thursday, April 30, on
a War Grave Piigr•'irnage to the
Netherlands. They will spend
four days in London, England,
during their tour and will visit
the graves of their brothers,
Melvin, in Holland, and Sydney,
in Belgium, who were killed in
the Second World War, They
expect to be gone 1.2 days.
Mrs. W. B. Cross attended the
funeral of her sister, Mrs. Bert
Milley, in Toronto, on Friday.
Mrs. Milley •died suddenly with
heart condition.
Mrs. John Henderson is a pa-
tient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter,
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Gelder-
land, of Ridgetown, were week-
end guests with the former's
sister and brother-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Sim Roobol.
Mrs. Orville Jones, of Queens-
way Nursing Home, attended
the district four of Associated
Nursing Homes Incorporated of
Ontario held in Glen Allen Res-
taurant, London, on Thursday,
April 9.
Official Visits
Legion Auxiliary
Mrs. Mary McCann, of Ford-
wich, Zone Commander, paid
cher official visit to Hensall
Legion Ladies' Auxiliary at
their meeting Tuesday everting,
in the Legion Hall. She spoke
briefly to the group, and was
presented with a gift by Mrs.
William Smale, past president.
It was disclosed that the re-
cent Red Cross drive of the
village netted $285.90, a con-
siderable amount over last year.
Plans were made for the annual
Penny Sale.
Two delegates will be sent
to the convention at North Bay
in September. President Mrs.
Roy Smale, who presided, sug-
gested members going to visit
veterans at Westminster Hos-
pital in the near future.
Mrs. John Skea presented
Mrs. Howard Smale with a gift
for her infant son, Paul Wil-
liam. Winners of the mystery
prize was Mrs. Howard Smale,
and guessing contest, Mrs.
Skea. Mrs. Austin, of Ford-
wich, was a guest at the meet-
ing.
Jimmy Tudor, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Maurice Tudor, has re-
turned home from Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital where he was a pa-
tient following an appendec-
tomy.
Mrs. Isabella Kennard has re-
turned to her home in Exeter
after spending the winter month
as s patient at Queensway Nurs-
ing Home.
Mrs. Elgin McKinley and Mrs.
Earle Rowe, of Huron Presby-
terial, were delegates to the
U.C.W. Conference which took
place at Sault Ste Marie this
past week,

Honour Awards
The regular meeting of the
Girl Guides was held Tuesday
evening, April 7. Those that
received badges were as fol-
lows: Skater's badge, Cheryl
Mousseau, Brenda Noakes, Ar-
lene Chipchase, Betty Cameron.
Cook's badge: Jane Pyette.
Child's care: Jane Pyette,
Carolyn Cook.
The Hensall Girl Guides have
as their project to repair dolls
and toys to send to the Chil-
dren's Aid Society at Goderich.
If anyone has any toys they
would like .to donate, please get
in touch with, any of the Girl
Guides of Hensall.
At the close of the meeting
Captain Mrs. Jim Hyde received
the salute.

Mrs. John Baker was hostess
for the Kinette meeting Wed-
nesday, April 8, with 100% at-
tendance. Mrs. Murray Brint-
nell, of Exeter, gave a very in-
teresting demonstration on arti-
ficial floral arrangements. Mrs.
Bob Baker won the raffle. The
hostess served lunch.

Mrs. John Deitz, Mrs. Jack Drys-
dale, Mrs. William Clement,
Mrs, Ron Wareing, Mrs. Horner
Campbell, Mrs, John Baker,
Mrs. Jim Hyde, Mrs. William

Douglas Johnston and Mrs. Wil-
liam Mickle, attended the Kin-
ette Inter -club meeting at Ayl-
mer Monday evening, April 13.

Mrs. Beverly Beaton was re-
turned as president of Hensall
Women's Institute when the
annual meeting was held in the
Legion Hall Wednesday eve-
ning. District president Mrs.
James Drummond, of Kippen,
brought greetings and conduct-
ed the installation.

trict were Mrs. Elgie and Mrs.
George Armstrong. Mrs. Payne
gave the report for the board
of directors held in Hensall last
week. Mrs, N. E. Cook was ap-
pointed to write up the histor-
ical research report to be pre-
sented at the district annual.
An invitation has been ex-
tended from this branch to hold
the county rally at Hensall, the
same to be decided at the dis-
trict annual. Mrs. McAllister
and Mrs. Laird Mickle were ap-

planning the program,
Plans were discussed for the
placing of exhibits at Exeter
Fall Fair. Mrs. Carl Payne fav-
ored with a lovely solo, "When
It's Easter Sunday Morning,"
Miss Laramie was accompanist.
Square dance numbers by the
following ladies, Mrs. William
Smale, Mrs. H. Horton, Mrs. E.
Willert, Mrs. Carlile, Mrs. Ed.
Funk, Mrs, B. Koehler, Mrs.
Garfield Broderick and Mrs.
Inez McEwen, was a highlight
of the evening, Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot accompanied at the
piano and also called. Mrs.
Beer was MC.
Mrs. Beaton chaired the meet-
ing, Mrs. Payne conducted a
singing quizz and Miss Lammie
gave courtesy remarks. Forty-
three attended.

feet wide on approximately 2500 feet on Brock, Mill, Queen
and Elizabeth Streets. To be placed on in two coarses.
The base coarse to be one and three-quarter inches thick
of coarse material. And the top coarse to be one and one-
quarter inches thick of fine material.
Contract prices to be submitted by the ton. Lowest or
any Tender not necessarily accepted. Work to be com-
pleted by September lst, 1964.

Missionary Speaker
Dr. Winnifred Bryce, a re-
turned missionary from India,
was guest speaker at the April
meeting of the U.C.W. held
Monday evening in the United
Church sanctuary, attended by
over 175. Mrs. Bryce, for her
topic, spoke on the changes in
lives: first, in the city; secondly,
rural area; thirdly, tribal
women, Her inspirational and
informative talk was given in a
warm and appealing manner.
The speaker was introduced by
Mrs. James McAllister, and
thanked by Mrs. Edison Forrest.
Special guests for the eve-
ning were the ladies of Chisel-
hurst, Goshen, Kippen, U.C.W.
and the ladies of Carmel Pres-
byterian, and St. Paul's Angli-
can churches, Hensall; Mrs.
Walter Spencer, president, ex-
tended a welcome tothe mem-
bers and guests.
Mrs. Robert Reaburn opened
with sacred passages followed
with the devotional "Unwrap-
ped Gifts" by Mrs. Spencer,
Mrs. Ron Mock led in prayer.
Vocal duets were rendered by
Mrs. Pearl Passmore and Miss
Mary Goodwin; and piano solos
by Miss Ann Mickle; Mrs, J.
Goddard presided at the organ
consol for the hymns and duets.
Rev. Harold Currie pronounced
the benediction, after which the
members and guests enjoyed a
social hour and lunch in the
Sunday School rooms beautiful-
ly decorated with apple blos-
soms, branches and singing
carnaries,
