Probably one of the busiest
groups of people in the district
at this time of year is Desjar-
dine Orchestra, pictured above.
For instance, last week the
group played four nights in a
row, and quite often they are
engaged for two or three nights
hand -running. To date, this
orchestra has 56 dances booked
ahead for the season, along with
the 'opening of their regular
Friday night stand at Bluewater
Danceland, in May. Shown in
this photo, from left to right,
are Mrs. Elroy Desjardine, Mrs,
Clare McBride, Earl Deichert,
Ed Mittelholtz and Elroy Des-
jardine. Seated at the drums
is Glenn Koehler. This same
group has been together for
quite some years as a unit,

stars of a mor ancient vintage.
At 7:30 p.m. the first game
featuring Bill Smith's "Comets"
and Shorty Caldwell's "Jets"
will get underway. At 8 p.m.
the second game between Bob
Lambie's "Flyers" and Bob Rea -
burn's "Stars" features the nine
and 10 year old players. Both
these games will be well worth
the price of admission alone as
the boys go all out at all times.
At 8:30 p.m. the Hensall Le-
gion Pee Wee Club makes its
debut of the season, against the
Zurich Pee Wees. Boys partici-
pating in. this game are 10 to 12
years of age. The local club is
coached by John Hawley, while
Jack Bannister, Zurich, directs
the Zurich team,
Following this game, Pauline
Bell, local figure skater, will be
featured in a solo number.
Pauline perforins due to the
courtesy of the St, Thomas
Skating Club.
Rounding out the evening,
and when you see the shape of
some of these players you'll
know why they use the word
"round", will be the Kinsmen -
Legion contest. The old-timers
have requested that the arena
manager flood the ice prior to
their game as they demand keen
ice for their fast moving game.
Many of the public will watch
this game very closely and some
such as Trevor Wilson, local
druggist, with anticipation. In
the past few days, the Hensall
Apothecary has filled up his
shelves with well known lina-
ments.
Fear that the Kinsmen -Legion
game will be difficult to handle,
three referees will officiate,
Fran "Udvari" Mickle, Helyn
"Storey" Drysdale and Lil "Mc-
Arthur" Baker.

Hensall-Zurich Combines Finish
Regular Season With Two Victories
The Hensall-Zurich Combines
rounded out their regular sche-
dule in the Shamrock Junior
League last week, with two
more convincing wins. On
Thursday night in Strathroy,
they edged the Rockets 8-6, and
then back in Hensall on Friday
night they trounced the Point
Edward Redmen, 11-3.
Combines 8-Strathroy 6
Six players figured in the
scoring at Strathroy, as the
Combines edged their arch -
rivals on their own ice. Bob
Livermore and Dennis Morrisey
each scored twice, while Bruce
Cooper, Bill Shaddick, Craig
Chapman and Mike Cushman
added single counters.
For Strathroy Mac Westgate
scored three and Harvey Thom-
as two.
The two teams split even in
the first period, with one goal
each, and again in the second
they both scored three goals.
The big difference, however,
came in the third when the
Combines outscored the Strath-
roy crew, 4-2, to salt away the
victory.
Only two minor penalties
were handed out to the Com-
bines, while the Rockets sat out
five.
Combines 11 -Point Edward 4
On their home ice Friday
night, the Combines hung an
11-3 pasting on the heads of the
Point Edward Redmen, to wind
up their regular scedule, They
scored four goals in the first,
added three more in the second,
and then banged in four more
in the third.
Dennis Morrisey was the big
gun for the Combines, pumping
in three goals, while Bob Liver-
more, Mike Cushman and Butch
Murney each scored two. Dale
Turvey and Craig Chapman
scored one each.
