Teacher's Banquet
Stephen Area School board
was host to the area teachers

Following supper euchre was
played with Mrs. Letta Taylor
and Mr. E. Becker winners and
Mrs. II. Jameison and Mr. Elgin
Webb low; Mr. Ralph Weber
was winner for lone hands.
Shuffleboard rounded ou the
evening.
Bus. Trip
The Men's Club 'chartered a
bus on Sunday and some 50 men
attended the Detroit -Montreal
hockey game, in which Detroit
won 3-2.
Miss Anne Taylor, of London,
spent the weekend with her
mother, Mrs, Letta Taylor.
Mr, and Mrs. Rudolph Miller
were in London on Sunday at
the hone of their son, Mr. and
Mrs. Seigfried Miller, where
they attended double' birthday
celebrations for their grandson,
Jeffery, and his maternal grand-
father, Mr. Oral Misner.
11Irs. Edwin Miller, who was
a patient in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London, has returned
home.

Obituary
Emanuel Sararas
A life-long resident of Hay
Township until recently, Eman-
uel Sararas passed away in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
on Friday, February 21, in his
81st year. For the past few
months he had been living in
Zurich. He had been sick for
less than a week.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
David Sararas, he was born
about a mile south of St.
Joseph.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs.
Adeline Taylor, of Exeter.
Funeral service was held on
Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 p.m.,
with interment in the Evan-
gelical LB Cemetery, Rev. A. M.
Amacher officited.

Miss M. Kennings
Funeral service was held on
Wednesday in Hensall for Miss
May Kennings, of London, who
passed away on Monday, Feb-
ruary 24, at Victoria Hospital.
She was in her 54th year.
Born in Crediton, Miss Ken-
nings lived most of the time in
Hensall.
Surviving are two sisters: Mrs.
Pearl Hedden, St. Catharines,
and Mrs. Alfred (Margaret)
Smith, Hensall.
Burial Was made in the Hen-
sall Union Cemetery. Rev. Har-
old Currie officiated.

New Regulations
The age requirements for the
Senior Beef Heiler Calves for
breeding purposes as well as
Beef Steers and Heifers for mar-
ket purpose have been changed
to coincide with the age require.
nnents of the Senior. Dairy
Calves, 1,e.: They must be born
between July 1 and December
31 of the year previous to the
club year.
It is realized that some calves
may already have been pur-
chased for use in club work
this year which are outside of
the new age range. In such
cases an exception will be made
for this year ONLY, and mem-
bers having such calves will be
allowed to use them.
Huron County 4-11 Livestock
Clubs will be organized during
Easter holidays, March 30th to
April 3.

Dashwood Couple
Honoured On
55th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Ford, RR
1, Hay, •celebrated their 55th
wedding anniversary Monday,
February 17, with a fancily din-
ner followed by open house in
the Dashwood Community Cen-
tre.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford are in
good health and enjoyed the
family "get-together". The fam-
ily presented the celebrants
with an emerald pin and ear-
rings for Mrs, Ford and tiepin
and cuff links for Mr. Ford.
During the evening a mock
wedding was staged with John
Brintnell as the bride, Mrs.
Don Freuchtel as groom, Mrs.
Jack Ford, bridesmaid, Howard
Ford, groomsman, Jack Ford,
minister, father of the bride.
Mrs. Hubert Miller. David Hall,
Detroit, furnished the music on
the piano and Mrs, Jack Gusso,
Lambeth, on the jew's harp. A
repeat of the performance was
`requested.
Mrs. Arthur Ford, Detroit,
poured tea for open house.
Dancing concluded the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford have a
family of four sons and six
daughters: Orville Ford, Exe-
ter; Lloyd Ford, London; How-
ard Ford, Bolton; Jack Ford,
Dashwood, and daughters: Mrs.
Russell Broderick, Exeter; Mrs.
D o n Freuchtel, Huntington,
West Virginia; Mrs. John Brint-
nell, Prescott; Mrs. Jack Gusso,
Lambeth; Mrs. Hubert Miller
and Mrs. Robert Forrester, Zur-
ich.
They have 41 grandchildren
and 18 great grandchildren who
presented their grandparents
with a basket of 55 daffodils.

Mrs. Alvena Sararas and attend-
ed the funeral of the late
Emanuel Sararas; Mr. and Mrs.
Everet Matheson, Owen Sound;
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Den-
omme, Windsor, and Mr. and
Mrs, Louis Calvert, Detroit.
Mrs. Phoebe Weber, who was
one of Zurich's oldest residents
at 94, has taken up residence at
the Queensway Nursing Home,
in Hensall.
Mrs. Anne Turkheim has re-
turned home after spending a
couple of weeks in Toronto with
friends and members of her
family. -
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Corri-
veau have taken up residence in
the apartment above Tasty -Nu
Bakery Mr. and Mrs. Jerome
Ducharnie, of Hensall, have
moved into the apartment of
Ervin Gingerich, on Walnut
Street.
Mr. and Mrs. William Hess
and David, of Woodstock, were
weekend visitors in Zurich at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Hess.
Mr. Chester L. Smith is at
rich
present a patient in South Hur-
on Hospital, where he expects
to undergo surgery.
The Zurich Women's Institute
will meet on Tuesday, March 3,
at 7:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs.
A. M. Amacher. The program
will take the form of a quilting
bee.
Attended Forum
Ivan L. Kalbfleisch attended
the Ontario International Trade
Forum held in Toronto, Tues-
day, February 18, sponsored by
the Province of Ontario Depart-
ment of Economics and Devel-
opment Trade and Industry
Branch. Fifteen hundred busi-
nessmen attended. They were
given the •opportunity to hear
lectures by experts in their re-
spective fields and to partici-
pate in panel discussions on the
subjects of trade prospects in
the European Common Market,
the United Kingdom and the
United States; also the subject
of Export Finance and Invest-
ment and Canada's Trading Im-
age. All business sessions were
held in the Concert Hall at the
Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
