quite unusual and attractive,
For the traditional living
xoom, with green walls, and
chintz covered furniture and
dark woodwork, there is noth-
ing like the natural green tree
decorated with a mixture of
red, green, yellow and blue
sparkle lights.
For a more formal living
room, with beige walls and
neutral furnishings, try :a gold
tree decorated with gold and
white lighted ice lights.
Another color combination
that may apply to your living
room is mushroom walls, with
greens, pinks and browns in
upholstery and rug. This would
be set off by a pink tree, dec-
orated with mixed snowball
lights. These snowball lights,
incidentally, come in six beauti-
ful pastel shades when lighted.
When turned off, they instantly
become white as snowballs — a
lovely decorative light even
when not burning.
As a general rule of thumb,

Wrapping Gifts
Offers Chance To
Test Your Ability
There's something about
Christmas shopping women en-
joy but also something about
gift wrapping they look forward
however, the good old natural
green tree covered with mixed
glow lights will always be at-
tractive, in any room, and in
and decorating scheme.
A word about gold and sil-
ver trees: Use them carefully,
for they Can be a very strong
feature of a room. They are
rather sophisticated, and suit
a larger living room done in
more formal style, or a hallway.
They are lovely as a small
tree, particularly in a small
apartment where they will
stand out without becoming
too dominant,
Try your hand at it, and
you'll discover that decorating
the Christmas tree can be
creative as well as lots of fun,
especially by blending the
many new colors and styles of
Christmas lights now available,
to with horror. But it's really
not as bad as all that when you
realize how much fun it can be
and what a wonderful outlet for
your own creative ideas,
No longer are there hard and
fast rules as to "how things
should be done", Your greatest
asset when you settle down to
wrap your gifts is a good-sized
box containing all sorts of odds
and ends life leftover fabrics,
ribbons, laces, rickrack braid
and ball fringe—not to mention
flowers from discarded hats or
sea shells dropped from last
summer's purse and never put
back on.

tape and tiny staples, select
