Married 60 Years Ago
Thirty members of the family
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle,
Hensall, gathered at their home
,last Wednesday to honour them
on the occasion of their 60th
wedding anniversary. Cards
were enjoyed during the eve-
ning and a midnight buffet
lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle were pre-
sented with a record player by
the members of their family.
Congratulatory messages were
received from Queen Elizabeth,
Prince Minister Lester B. Pear-
son, Prime Minister John P. Ro-
barts, and Hon. C. S. McNaugh-
ton, Minister of Highways, mem-
ber of the legislature for Huron
County. A framed certificate
Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell
celebrated their 35th Wedding
Anniversary on Sunday, at the
home of their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Hendrick, of Dashwood. A fowl.

and other gifts, Mr. and Mrs.
Kyle received congratulatory
messages from two of their sons
who were not able to be pres-
ent; Roy, of Timmins, and Rus-
sell, of St. Catharines.
The couple were married 60
years ago in the Anglican par-
sonage in Hensall. Mr. Kyle is
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Kyle, and was born in
Tuckersmith Township. Mrs.
Kyle is a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Menno Kipfer, and
was born in Waterloo County.
Following their marriage of
60 years ago, the couple farmed
on the Parr Line, in Hay Town-
ship, before retiring to Hensall
about 30 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Kyle have four
sons, Bryan and David, of Hen-
sall; Roy, of Timmins, and Rus-
sell, of St. Catharines; and two
daughters, Mrs. Arnold Merner,
Zurich, and Mrs. Clare Tuckey,
of London. There are also 16
grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
Members of the family from
London, Hensall and Zurich at-
tended the anniversary cele-
bration.

News of HENSALL District
Legion members of the Hen-
sall Branch of the Canadian
Legion, 468, were treated to a
delicious smorgasbord supper in
the Legion Hall Monday eve-
ning, served by the Ladies' Aux-
iliary, convened by Mrs. E. R.
Davis,
Mrs. John Henderson, who has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, for the past
nine weeks, came home Sunday.
Robert Miekle, of U.W.O.,
London, spent Saturday with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird
Miekle, and Ann.
Fred Beer and Harry Horton
attended the Canadian Corps
Cyclist Battalion Reunion, held
at the King Edward Hotel, To-
ronto, on Saturday.
Unit 4 Meeting
Unit 4 of the U.C.W. met
Thursday afternoon for their
November meeting, with Mrs.
James McAllister presiding. The
devotional, using the theme, "I
am the Vine, ye are the
branches," was in charge of
Hensall Institute
Hears Radia Man
Johnnie Brent, of CKNX-TV,
Wingham, on Friday afternoon
interviewed the presidents of
Crediton, Elimville, Seaforth,
Hurondale and Kippen East
Women's Institutes of South
Huron.
Also interviewed were Mrs.
Harry Strang, vice-chairman of
the area, speaking on the Area
Convention; Mrs. Ken Johns,
Elimville, who commented on
the Bursary and Scholarship
Fund; Mrs. Barry Caldwell, sec-
retary of the South Huron Dis-
trict„ speaking on Institute
work, and Mrs. W. D. Mack,
Provincial Curator.

made herself, drew froth very
favourable comments from the
M.C.
Following the interview the
group was taken on a tour of
the station and served coffee.
Thirty ladies attended.
Mrs, George Armstrong and
Mrs. R. M. Peck. Mrs. McAlli-
ster took the study, assisted by
Mrs. Ezra Kiefer, and Mrs.
Robin McAllister, speaking on
the "Christian Church in West-
ern India". Plans for the an-
nual bazaar to be held Saturday,
November 30, from 2 to 6, were
made. An invitation to Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Novem-
ber 25 was accepted. Twenty-
five ladies were present.
Plan Euchre
Amber Rebekah Lodge met
in the lodge rooms Wednesday,
November 8, with Noble Grand
Mrs, Clarence Volland presid-
ing. It was decided to have a
desert euchre Wednesday after-
noon, Novevmber 27, also the
Christmas party will be the reg-
ular meeting December 4, with
an exchange of gifts at: $1.00
each, also a gift of used cloth-
ing, used toys or new ones for
the Children's Shelter in Gode.

The U.C.W. of Chiselhurst
United Church are very pleased
with the success of their annual
bazaar held in the Sunday
School rooms Thursday after-
noon, which realized $166. Many
lovely articles were offered for
sale at the bazaar, which was
well attended. Conveners were:
bake table, Mrs. Alvin Cole;
vegetables, Mrs. Clarence Cole-
man; candy, Mrs, Harold Park-
er; sewing, Mrs. Roy McDonald;
tea tables, Mrs. Jack Brintnell;
reception, Mrs. Percy Harris
(president) and Mrs. Harold
Currie. Tea tables and school
rooms were attractivve with
flowers in autumn tone.
